Saints-Eagles one-liners

Saints S Darren Sharper put the finishing touches on a 48-22 victory by taking an interception 97 yards for a touchdown.

On plays with 10 or more yards to go for a first down, Saints QB Drew Brees was 15 of 20 for 222 yards and three touchdowns.

Through three quarters, Saints RB Reggie Bush only had seven yards on four carries, but a 19-yard touchdown run in the fourth helped the final statline.

Rookie Saints CB Malcolm Jenkins made a big play when he stripped Eagles KR Ellis Hobbs on the opening kickoff of the second half.

Saints TE Jeremy Shockey recovered a Brees fumble with the score tied 10-10 in the second quarter in a play that was bigger than it originally appeared.

Said Eagles QB Kevin Kolb after throwing three interceptions, “I just hate that I kill myself and I kill the team with those turnovers. As a quarterback, you can’t allow yourself to do that. It puts us in a hole. It put us in a hole at the top of the third and we couldn’t recover.”

The Eagles didn’t use as many blitzes as they normally do, even after Brees made it clear he wasn’t bothered by throwing against more players in coverage.

Hobbs’s fumble was just one of the special teams miscues that hurt the Eagles on Sunday.

WR DeSean Jackson had a 71-yard touchdown catch, his second big play in as many weeks for the Eagles.

The Eagles only converted one of their five visits to the red zone into a touchdown.
