Texans-Titans one-liners

The Texans fell behind by 14 points but rebounded to beat the Titans 34-31 behind superlative performances from QB Matt Schaub and WR Andre Johnson.

Johnson’s 10th and final catch of the game was the 500th of his career, making him the second-fastest to that total in NFL history.

The defense clinched the game for the Texans when DL Jeff Zgonina stripped Titans QB Kerry Collins with 1:42 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Said Texans CB Dunta Robinson, “We made a lot of plays defensively, but we have to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. A lot of those big plays they got were because guys weren’t where they were supposed to be. Once we got those corrected they weren’t able to move the ball much. We have to be more consistent as a defensive unit.”

Texans G Chester Pitts left the game with a sprained MCL and is expected to miss three to four weeks.

Said Titans LB Keith Bulluck, “We might be fools as a defensive unit to think that we’re good right now, because we’re not. Until we stop somebody and are able to get a win, we are not good.”

Titans RB Chris Johnson’s 284 yards from scrimmage were nearly three-fourths of the team’s total offensive output.

Titans DT Jason Jones denied throwing any punches during a sideline scuffle that led to his ejection.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher said that the referees made the correct, if unpopular, call when the Texans retained possession after PR Jacoby Jones muffed a fair catch and the Titans were called for fair catch interference.

CB Nick Harper was upset following the game because he felt the Titans didn’t make any defensive adjustments as the game progressed.
