Earlier in the hour, we surmised that Saints quarterback Drew Brees had overcome Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner’s 24-for-26 passing performance to win a second straight NFC offensive player of the week award.
We surmised wrong.
We forgot about 49ers running back Frank Gore, who ran for more than 200 yards and two touchdowns in San Fran’s victory over the Seahawks. The Niners have announced that Gore has received the honor.
He had touchdown runs of 79 and 80 yards in the game.
Gore will next face Adrian Peterson of the Vikings, in a battle of two of the best tailbacks in the NFL.
Frank the Tank baby!! Wooo!
He earned it.
AMEN
Tony D says that AP is a superstar, FG, not so much.
Chris Johnson may disagree on the 2 best tailbacks thing.
Good that it was NFC because Chris Johnson deserves offensive player of the week period…
BUT WHAT DOES TONY DORSETT THINK ABOUT FRANK GORE, FLORIO?
No love for Chris Johnson? Too bad the Titans’ defense wasted his efforts.
“No love for Chris Johnson?”
Sorry, Tony Dorsett says he’s not a superstar.
Oh geez, I just realized this was for the NFC. Johnson is in the AFC of course. I guess he still has a shot at offensive player of the week honors.
Didn’t he hurt his ankle in the second half and sit out a large portion of the half. If so, those numbers are pretty damn solid. Hope he’s not 100% this weekend, and then healthy as a horse thereafter.
You’re interested in what Tondy Dorsett(Cowboy), thinks of Frank Gore(Niner)?
Do your thoughts really come out of your ass? I’m just curious because those comments were pretty damn dumb.
Gore always rips Seattle a new one. Top career games against Sea.
Brees against the Eagles defense, excelling under the blitz – like 10 for 10 and 2 tds(or close) when 2 or more blitzers.
Warner played Jaguars. Nuff said.
My pick would be Cutler ripping the Steelers D a new one, but I am biased.
Brees seems the most worthy.
Some people are hating on Frank Gore. The guy is the only thing the 49ers got on offense. He is more valuable to his team than AP is to the Vikings. He has won 2 games for his team. If Crabtree would man up and get his rear end into San Fran., maybe Gore would have 300 yards rushing. He is a top 5 back in the league. I saw some Chris Johnson’s comments. He has Lendale to give him a breather at least. Gore got nobody. Titans have Justin Gage and their 1st round pick Kenny Britt and a better QB in Collins even though Young should be starting. Once again, 49ers have Josh Morgan?? and Vernon Davis?? Give me a break, Gore is the better back here
Who cares what Tony Dorsett thinks about Gore. The only person who matters when it comes to an opinion on Gore, is Gore. When the guy’s confidence and morale are up, he is a force. The challenge is keeping him atop peaks and not in valleys.
Samurai Mike for Coach of the year.

No one does more with less than Frank Gore he carries that team. Chris Johnson has LW and Kerry Collins (kinda). Adrian Peterson has Favre (kinda) and Chester Taylor, Berrnard Berrian, and it appears Percy Harvin.
BTW who cares what Tony Dorsett thinks, just because you can play the game doesn’t make you some kind of talent scout genius.

It says “TWO OF THE BEST.” not the two best
ummm….. Frank Gore isnt even a top-5 back. Don’t get blinded by one week Florio…
Isnt a top 5 back? The guy has played on the worst team in the league since he went pro(one of the worst, anyway) . He has played his whole career against teams that put 8 in the box. He rushed for almost 1700 yrds a few years ago with a QB that was passing for under 200 yrds per game. He is also one of the top pass catchers out of the backfield in the NFL. I admit Im a niner fan, but you have to admit, the guy is damn good. He has been more than consistent over his short career. Even splitting carries as a rookie on the worst offense in the history of the NFL, he still managed 500 yrds. But everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. I can respect that.

Frank certainly had a good game.
Good for him to have this honor.
“Do your thoughts really come out of your ass?”
I’ll thank you to keep my ass out yo mouf, San Francisco fan.
aight its like this chris johnson is nothing compared to frank ” the inconvenient truth ” gore hes rushed for 1,000 the last 3 seasons and the only person with more yards than him in that span is L.T in that which he lead the nfc with 1,695 yards rushing in 1996 and he started the pro bowl which of that has chris johnson done????? dont compare him to gore just yet and id like to also point out that the last time the niners played the vikes they held him to 3 yards on 14 carries……….. and gore is one of the BEST
strongsideblitz i like your style brother!!! niner fan here in louisiana F da saints!!!!
Frank Gore is easily a top 5 back. He does what he does with less quarterback and offensive line help than most top backs.
Its not like other teams focus on anything other than Gore.
Sorry guys, Tony Dorsett has spoken.
Franky Gore will tear Seattle up at home…….again, this season!
Two types of people come from Texas Vox…seems to me you don’t have any horns and turns out San Fran just might be the right place for you to live
