In the early days of every week, we try to go back and post a list of links to stories from the weekend (you know, when you’re on your own time) so that you can catch up on things you might have missed.
So here’s what you might have missed over the past few days.
A reader suggests that, if Channing Crowder tries to beat me up, I should disguise myself as Dallas Clark. Or pretty much any tight end.
Raiders fans, maybe they’re trying to screw you after all.
Soon to be overheard at 280 Park Avenue: “Deion, did Kimberly steal Jo’s baby?”
Peria Jerry, we hardly knew ye.
Donte Whitner needs to spend some of his jewelry money on a security system. Or a dog.
Lord Favre bent his Wookie.
The Buccaneers are falling apart.
Herschel might soon need a walker.
Last week, McDonald’s introduced the Donovan McRibb. This week, Chili’s has the “Hasselbeck babybeck, babybeck, babybeck . . . Hasselbeck babybeck, babybeck, babybeck . . . .”
Speaking of McDonald’s, Redskins linebacker Robert Henson might soon be working there.
It’s nice that receivers like Torry Holt, Larry Fitzgerald, and Andre Johnson never cause trouble for their teams.
Sally Struthers made a cameo on the SNF Extra Live Chat.
On a decisive play, who better to knife through the offensive line?
The Jets win the pennant! The Jets win the pennant! The Jets win the pennant!
It’s the Wildcat, punt team style.
As it turns out, Albert Haynesworth is not able to shred tall foreheads in a single stomp.
For $1,701, that bottle of water better have a hidden compartment with some of Donte Whitner’s jewelry in it. (Or some of Mike Vick’s stash. Allegedly.)
From the Sunday night chat:
——————–
Q: Is Tony Romo the most overrated quartberback in the league?
A: I think it`s Eli Manning.
Q: Is Eli the most overrated quaterback in the NFL?
A: Kurt Warner might be.
———————
At some point during the season, Florio will say that each qb is over-rated, and at the end of the season, he will point to his most correct (in hindsight) answer and say ‘See, I told you so…)
And if by ‘over-rated’ Florio means a Superbowl MVP that always calm under pressure, makes big time plays to win big games, is humble, and in the prime of his career, then yeah, I agree with him.
But why don’t you ask the Panthers, Jets, Raiders, Niners, Cowboys, Redskins, Jags, Rams, Browns, Broncos, etc, etc, if they wouldn’t rather have Eli as a qb over their current qb, and see if they think he’s over-rated.
Michael,
I know as a Bears fan I have no right to talk QB’s, but I think Florio is reffering to his salary, compared to other stat heavy QB’s. Eli is definitely becoming one of the best clutch QB’s out there, but I think he will never be the centerpiece of his team. His brother, Brady, Brees, or even Philip Rivers seem like they can carry a team, with much less weapons further, at least at this point. Eli doesn’t deserve to be the highest paid QB in the league yet, but who knows, he may one day be up there with the others.
And just as a side note, Eli played well in the Super Bowl, but he shouldn’t have been the MVP. That should have gone to anyone on either the O or D lines. They won that game for the Giants.

Dude that link was weak sauce. “knife through” ohhh that’s so clever. And so fresh! Got any Leon Lett jokes since we are catching things at the peak of their significance. Maybe a Micheal Irvin cocaine joke, you are just so funny. In the future maybe you could work on witty links from within the last 10 years.
“Last week, McDonald’s introduced the Donovan McRibb. This week, Chili’s has the “Hasselbeck babybeck, babybeck, babybeck . . . Hasselbeck babybeck, babybeck, babybeck . . . .”
Do you really think this is funny?
“A reader suggests that, if Channing Crowder tries to beat me up, I should disguise myself as Dallas Clark. Or pretty much any tight end.”
i have to admit, even as a Dolphins fan i find this absolutely hilarious. Crowder normally is a solid tackler, but can’t cover very well. Maybe this will light a fire under his ass.
The Hasselbeck comment is funny as well.
