Tuck’s shoulder injury could keep him out this week

Giants defensive lineman Justin Tuck hasn’t missed a game since 2006, often playing through painful injuries to stay on the field.

That streak could end this Sunday, despite comments to the contrary from Tuck immediately after Sunday’s win in Dallas in which he injured his shoulder.

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that further tests to Tucker’s shoulder revealed the damage wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but his status for this week remains up in the air. Tuck has avoided a serious injury, but Garafolo believes he’ll still miss a game or two.

The Giants were also without defensive tackle Chris Canty last week, and defensive tackle Jay Alford is out for the season.

New York heads to Tampa this week, where Eli Manning should have a fun day against Tampa’s sagging defense. Perhaps the G-Men can afford to give Tuck the week off.
