Eagles try out an old friend

Jeremiah Trotter, 32, hasn’t played in the NFL since 2007 because of knee injuries, and he hasn’t played in Philadelphia since 2006.

But he reportedly keeps telling the organization that he wants to and can still play. The Eagles, clearly in need of some linebacker help, decided this week to see if Trotter was all bluster or if he was in playing shape.

They tried out the four-time Pro Bowler, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. To this point, they haven’t signed him.

Perhaps they just did it as a favor to Trotter. Or maybe they are a little desperate, and willing to consider some unconventional ideas to help out the middle of their defense.

(And just as we were about to make a Seth Joyner crack, we see Schefter already made one about Chuck Bednarik. Well done.)
