As was said before, the article you referenced was dated 9/18. He has since played and played well. Do have new info or is this just a case where you forgot an article you meant to reference last week is basically no longer valid? Either way, it’s incredibly sloppy work by ANY standard. If you have new info, tell us. If you don’t, how does a “professional” use an article that is so outdated? What’s the next huge “headline story”? Phil Simms is iffy for Super Bowl XXV? The Giants “are planning for the possibility” that Phillips could have surgery, according to one source, and “no decisions have been made” according to the 2nd source. Wow, could you be more waffling?
Of the Giants preparing for the possibility, well I would hope so. As for no decision being made to have surgery, why would you, when he has been able to play? And, as some of the posters have pointed out, Phillips has a reduced practice schedule during the week, precisely to save him for the games.
I guess it was quite a slow news day today, if this is all you could come up with. Meanwhile, scientists report that there is a possibility of an earthquake occurring in California, and that Los Angelenos should be prepared.

i figured others comments would shed some light onto this, or provide me with more articles, but nada. Can you please post a link from an actual source, actual quotes from phillips, doctors, trainers, someone?? I mean this is a small article with a link from a week ago. He played last sun and had 2 picks, he didnt miss any snaps due to his knee acting up. I can see “knee injury causes phillips to miss practice” but not “season ending” this would be huge for the giants….

Not so fast in burying this team. They are that good. Just remember their Super Bowl year. They survived with a severely depleted secondary. Should the others get healthy (i.e., Tuck, Canty, Ross, Dockery and Simtin), this team’s pass rush will still compensate for the paucity of defensive secondary help. Nevertheless, losing Phillips would have a much greater impact later in the season than currently as Phillips is slowly progressing and has not as yet been able to spontaneously implement the Giant defensive playbook philosopy into his style of play. I.e., he is still somewhat robotic in his play and slow in his reads and reaction. However, he is just beginning to pick things up as evidenced in his more intuitive style of play in the Cowboy game.

In Jerry Reese and the Giants depth we the fans must trust. Injuries are tough in this part of the season, but are also an opportunity for inexperienced players to become veterans.
Even with the scraps put together in the Giants secondary if the front four get pressure it can compensate for lack of practice.

at first blush, i was deflated reading this as a giant fan, then i clicked on the link you provided for us regarding his season. Then i was reading how he practiced thurs and sat out friday etc. I forgot for a second that it isnt even friday yet. So you send us to a link from last week about phillips, someone who participated in the game last sun and had a pick and made a key tackle to stop a potential TD. Granted you mentioned him playing against Dallas, but, i read he practiced and sat out this week and sat and practiced, which isnt so surprising for an NFL player. Can you please back up your claims or provide us with a link stating he might be out for the year? I mean posting a link from a week ago is hardly telling us a thing. Your article is pretty bold without an actual source or link, and it’s a pretty key player for the giants.
I forgot, phillips actually had two picks.
