Report: Vick will play Sunday

Though this one hardly falls into the Johnny Carson “I did not know that” category, it’s newsworthy because, finally, a member of the Eagles organization has acknowledged the obvious.

Mike Vick will play Sunday.

Per ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio, Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said that Vick will make his first regular-season appearance since December 2006, when Vick played against the Eagles in Philly as a member of the Falcons.

“He’ll play,” Mornhinweg said.  “How much we’ll see as the week goes on.  I think he’s in top physical condition.  We’ll see how he handles the few things we have in for him.

“I would question him handling let’s say a whole ball game, although I do think he’s in top physical condition, but he hasn’t played in a long period of time.”

Vick is expected to play sporadically, as the change-of-pace Wildcat option.  But, presumably, if he does well and if Donovan McNabb isn’t playing due to a broken rib and if Kevin Kolb is struggling a bit, Vick could get extra work.

Let the man play QB and see what he can do?

Florio, why do you say Vick could get extra work? Kolb would have to be pretty terrible for AR to make a change and I don’t see that happening. He actually played a half decent game last week. I think at this point, Garcia would go in before Vick. Vick will only take snaps in Wildcat and special formations. He’s not ready to play a whole offensive series.

McNabb does not look too kindly on this whole “change-of-pace” business, just as Vick does not look too kindly on dogs being alive.

i have been waiting 2 years for this… omg, o wait, i always said vick was going to be a bust. and as far as the wildcat originator he claims to be i also have doubts to that. as in unless your peyton manning i doubt your calling or designing your own plays

Eagles suck and are going to lose badly.
Vick or McNabb it makes no difference.

    I don’t have a dog in this fight…
But c’mon, really, how well is he gonna play after such a long layoff? Maybe he still has a bit of that lightning-in-a-bottle-speed… but I doubt it.
Maybe it’s best for him to go ahead and play so that Philly will know once and for all what they do – and don’t – have.

Although I am a very severe animal lover I was against the Eagles hiring Vick. However, I believe he is remorseful for what he did and it is time for healing and forgiveness. You have to forgive to be forgiven. His dogs were rescued and now have homes. Goodell should have had him on the field weeks ago. And don’t expect miracles because he has been away a long time. Vick may surprise everyone and win the game for the Eagles. No one can predict the future. I don’t wish him bad luck or any quarterback. I find it an injustice to make nasty comments about any football player.

I hope Tank Tyler snatches Vick up by one leg and one arm and slams him repeatedly to the ground, when he tires of that , snap his leg off at the hip joint and beat him to death with the bloody end of it!
    F’n Hog Farmer!

You mean the ones that WEREN’T burned, drowned, choked, electrocuted, punctured with screwdrivers, fed to other dogs, or killed by way of having their heads slammed against the concrete repeatedly, right?

Then you took a wrong turn somewhere sweetheart, ’cause you are WAY in the wrong place right now…

A thug-life hoodie never changes his ways. vick is contrite only because he is down. Put some money in his pocket a golden bling around his neck, and a group of kiss-asses following him around then it’s the same old dawg.

  18. raptorvinny says: Sep 24, 2009 6:29 PM

who would say its any injustice to make nasty comments about ANY football player? ALL of these guys are saints? the NFL has had child molesters, drug dealers, wife beaters, thief’s, murderer’s, rapist’s, idiots, and cheaters as employee’s ever since it’s founding. these guys are a reflection of society no better and no worse.
what Mike did was disgusting and CRUEL but i believe he does have a right to work if someone wants to hire him and the Eagles did. he paid his debt. i’ll never root for him again but i respect his right to work. it’s all of our rights.
a question for the lady who made the comment, do you watch FOX news? they make nasty and false statements about our freakin PRESIDENT 24/7! and he never bashed a puppies face in, lol.

    @ raptorvinny
Where to begin with you good friend, how about the fact that everything you said made sense until the end and you ruined it. I tell you right now if I get a DUI I lose my job, shoot if I get a speeding ticket for reckless driving I lose my job and rest asured I wouldnt get it back.
Now this is a Football site so why you brought in Fox News is beyond me but you did so let me put you in your ignorant braindead place. I personally watch Fox News for about 4 hours a day maybe less. And never, have they ever, said anything false about the President. To challenge any politician is the job of the media. Just because you don’t like the challenge doesn’t make it a lie.
You my friend are a Keith Olbermann koolaid drinking, indoctrinated, mind numb robot who obviously has never watched Fox News but probably chimed in on Sean Hannity who will tell you from the start of his show that he is a conservative and he has no interest in anything but pointing out the flaws with the president. Now that I have just put you in your place go join the 10 other people who watch Countdown tonight, put on your Obama T-Shirt and chant “yes we did” until you fall asleep because that made you feel better about yourself.

actually i think philly’s d will handle kaycee this week.
but it looks like kolb needs the reps. why waste a load of them on ookie…

  22. chapnasty says: Sep 24, 2009 8:56 PM

I’m on here 8 hours a day and Florio hasn’t turned me away from being a Cowboys fan. Since you are referring to Rush like 10 years ago when he was actually fat and before he was rehabilitated for his drug issues that neither you nor I know any details about, you prove my point. Liberal, ignorant, mind numb robot.

Can’t you just secede from the Union already? We don’t want you here.

  27. chapnasty says: Sep 25, 2009 11:09 AM

    @ Ocelot138
Thank you, you just proved that you know nothing about the political ideology of this coutnry. every poll shows the values of the majority of Americans is Center-RIGHT. you my friend can go to California with your hippie bullshit and let wait for the state to crack away into the ocean.

  28. Ocelot138 says: Sep 25, 2009 1:57 PM

Every poll, huh? It’s weird, because about a year ago there was this really big poll – called an election – and your mummy of a candidate got steamrolled by a black dude.
That tells me Republicans are really popular, when people are breaking color barriers to keep them out of office.

  29. chapnasty says: Sep 25, 2009 4:03 PM

Steam rolled? Obviously you are a moron as it was in no way a land slide as it SHOULD have been. McCain is no republican he just plays one in the Senate that is why he didn’t win. Good to see your true colors coming out when you refer to “breaking down color barriers” to keep someone out of office as a good thing. Maybe people just wanted to put faith in someone and liked the Obama message regardless of the color of his skin. You know, “judging someone off of the content of their charecter and not the color of their skin”, you know that interesting piece of history that you obviously dont know how to follow? Again go to California with the rest of the nuts and wait for the place to float off.
