Welker back at practice for Pats

Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker wasn’t able to go in last Sunday’s game against the Jets and the sawed-off pass-catcher known as the “Slot Machine” was sorely missed.

So it will be welcome news for Patriots fans to learn that Welker was present for the start of Patriots practice this afternoon according to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com.

Reiss notes that Welker’s participation appeared as if it would be limited today with his knee injury. Still, given the problems New England’s had through two weeks establishing a consistent offensive rhythm, Welker’s return would help in that regard. He had 12 catches in the Patriots season opener against Buffalo.

Last week, Welker’s mini-me, rookie Julian Edelman had eight catches for 96 yards stepping in for Welker. Impressive as those numbers are, Edelman was actually targeted on 16 Tom Brady throws. New England will have its hands full this week with a visit from the 2-0 Falcons.

Speaking of “hands full” where did that picture of Jessica Simpson’s side-boob go on pic of the day? We are back to 2008 in there.
