Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, who was looking better than ever in the regular-season opener against the Titans before suffering a sprained MCL in his left knee, hopes to return to action on October 11, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
On that day, the Steelers travel to their home away from home — Detroit. (Four years ago, Steelers fans stormed Ford Field as the team finally got the long-awaited “One for the Thumb.” And did you know Jerome Bettis is from Detroit?)
If Polamalu returns for the Week Five contest, he will have missed only three games.
Bouchette also reports that Polamalu has opted not to undergo treatment in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, because Polamalu believes it can have “harmful side effects.” (Maybe it causes alopecia.)
Meanwhile, the folks at Real Talk Xpress report that Polamalu regularly brings groceries and money to homeless folks who seek shelter under the 9th Street Bridge in Pittsburgh. With the G-20 (Bingo! Eat it ladies!) in Pittsburgh this week, local authorities allegedly tried to clear the homeless out of the area, presumably in order to enhance the city’s image.
Not only is he the “BEST” safety in the league he seems to be a great human being as well . Stay classy Troy .
Troy is a class act and a great player. While I hope is knee is ok, I dread his return!!

His hair is part of his heritage and family tradition. I hope he never cuts it.
Too bad he wasn’t around to help Mike Webster. But the Rooneys were, weren’t they?
I love how you had to mention how the unfortunate people without homes were moved from the bridge…to make p-burg seem like a better place…
even if it is true florio, have some dignity and be lucky your stupid ass still has a job…if you keep up the slanderous b-crap about the summit (its a critical time in history now stupid) you will lose readers…your taking well beyond football.

You aren’t gonna go off on the NY cops for aiding & abetting the 9/11 terrorists again are you?
/ Go back to Cuba dirtbag.
“You aren’t gonna go off on the NY cops for aiding & abetting the 9/11 terrorists again are you?”
Actually it was about tipping off current terrorists, dummy. Crack a newspaper open now and then.

NEW YORK (AP) — Police acting without the FBI’s knowledge might have inadvertently helped blow the surveillance of a terrorism suspect and compromised a bomb plot investigation at a sensitive stage by questioning an imam about him, a criminal complaint suggests.
“They came to ask me about your characters,” the Muslim religious leader, Ahmad Wais Afzali, told Najibullah Zazi in a secretly recorded Sept. 11 telephone conversation. “They asked me about you guys.”
“in Pittsburgh this week, local authorities allegedly tried to clear the homeless out of the area, presumably in order to enhance the city’s image. ”
Yeah let’s not ignore that they deployed army units who used sound weapons, rubber bullets and chemicals on the protesters. All illegal and against Posse Comitatus which prevents the armed forces from engaging citizens. Or the arbitrary arrests, on video btw, of people for no reason. None of this should concern anybody of course. You’re all perfectly free and it’s a giant piece of performance art.

“Nice cops you got up in NY, by the way… tipping off the terrorists like they did.”
This is why TP is one of the only true role models in the NFL, he is a truly amazing player, a leader and a good guy off the field. He is one of the faces of NFL for good reason.
