Eagles to have three active quarterbacks

Andy Reid is looking for flexibility on Sunday afternoon against the Chiefs, which means that he won’t avail himself of the emergency quarterback option.

Jason LaCanfora of NFL.com reports that the Eagles will have Kevin Kolb, Jeff Garcia and Michael Vick on their active roster. That means they could play any (or all) of them at any point in the game without losing the right to use the other two players.

Given Vick’s rustiness and perceived inability to handle being the regular, every-down quarterback that isn’t particularly surprising. The decision does lend itself to thoughts that Reid and the Eagles have some doubts about Kolb’s ability as a starter. If Garcia was the emergency quarterback, they’d lose the chance to use Vick, but now they can opt for Garcia and keep all their Wildcat packages intact.
