Linebacker Jeremiah Trotter last played in the NFL nearly two years ago. And, in less than a week, the Eagles have brought Trotter in for a look-see twice.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Eagles have again visited with Trotter, a day after beating the Chiefs, 34-14.
The Eagles presumably are looking for leadership on defense, given the departure of safety Brian Dawkins and the season-ending injury to Stewart Bradley, the middle linebacker entering camp.
It would be Trotter’s third stint with the Eagles. After four years in Philly, he jumped to the Redskins for two years. Then he returned to the Eagles for three seasons, re-establishing himself as a key player during the 2004 Super Bowl run.
Though Philly is sitting fairly pretty at 2-1, those 48 points surrendered to the Saints in Week Two surely has caused a few sleepless nights in the eight days since the home-opening defeat.
Is Mike Mamula unavailable ?
They are looking for another QB they figure 4 must be the magic number
Have you ever done any real reporting?
Yeah, Mike Mamula is hanging out with Rex Grossman….how is Rex doing?
Bigblue, we already have 4. I guess 5 is the magic number?
Not really sure why they are looking into a LB who was let go because he was a liability in pass coverage after being burned by the Saints. At least we get to see him chopping some wood again.
Hey, bearsrule. Mike Mamula will be available to replace your MLB after he’s done slipping the wood to your momma.
Mamula had a workout: he looked awesome, … again! Unfortunately, the Eagles couldn’t come to terms with him.
Trotter in the building would not be a bad thing. Is it such a bad thing to give him another chance?!?
Romo looked gooooood tonight didn’t he? The race for the East is getting down to only a couple of teams…..
Romo looked adequate, against a crap team.
I have been ‘pining’ for Trotter since I saw Bradley’s knee go ‘twang’ in a MEANINGLESS pre-season game. I am not expecting anything from him except to stuff the run and be the def. ‘coach on the field’.
Sorry for all the quotation marks…I have a problem…
Welcome home AXMAN ! you will be an inspiring and motivational addition to a young defense.
I think that Trott still has some juice left and is not just coming back for a paycheck.
They must be ready to cut Joe Mays. Mays was supposed to be a Trotter clone. Ferocious on run downs but lacking in coverage. Since he can’t seem to play run or passing downs, might as well bring back the real deal. At least they know he will bring it on run downs.
“Romo looked gooooood tonight didn’t he?”
Hell yeah, 12 passing first downs! They wanted to take away the deep stuff and they paid. If Romo will just take what defenses are giving him and quit trying to win it all by himself they’ll win every game. As someone on ESPN just said, “more Troy Aikman than BertFarve” and I’m perfectly OK with that.
Vox: you must’ve bit your tongue when you wrote that…..seriously, take the blue tinted glasses off for just a second. He didn’t look good. Now, Choice and Jones looked good for sure….
I guess it’s all about small steps at this point and a win is a win is a win. You’ll get no argument from me on that. They don’t give you style points for a win, so you just gotta win any way you can.
What’s the news on MBIII & Felix Jones?
Vox,
Your clownboys couldn’t score in the redzone until well into the 3rd qtr against a basically defenseless team! Glad the “magic” is back. See you NY when our defense is back to full strength! Thanks for making our receiving tandem tops in the NFL last week.
