Kevin Smith misses practice with shoulder injury

Lions coach Jim Schwartz has opted to be coy regarding the condition of running back Kevin Smith and his injured shoulder.  (We’ve heard that he’s week to week.)

All that the team is saying right now is that Smith didn’t practice at all on Wednesday in advance of Sunday’s trip to Soldier Field for a game against the Bears.

Linebacker Ernie Sims, who suffered what was called a “significant” shoulder injury in Week Two, was back at practice Wednesday, on a limited basis.

Also missing practice for the Lions were defensive tackle Sammie Lee Hill (ankle), safety Kalvin Pearson (quadricep), and Dewayne White (hamstring).  Defensive end Cliff Avril (hamstring), defensive tackle Grady Jackson (knee), and cornerback Eric King (shoulder) practiced on a limited basis.

For the Bears, linebacker Lance Briggs (foot), defensive end Alex Brown (ankle), linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer (rib), and linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa (knee)
did not practice.  Defensive tackle Anthony Adams (knee), tight end Desmond Clark (rib), running back Matt Forte (knee), defensive tackle Tommie Harris (knee), defensive tackle Israel Idonije (knee), and long snapper Patrick Mannelly (forearm) participated on a limited basis.  Guard Frank Omiyale (ankle) participated in full.

Aye, Bears a bit beat up. Good thing we get the Lions @ Soldier Field and then a bye week.
Rest the starters on D and let Cutler light it up – fyi he only struggles on the road. Check his Denver stats home vs away.

and so the win streak ends (streak… more like a hyphen)… time to start a new streak…

    Slipkid,
You forget that after our tough start, we do have an easier second half. I don’t think the Lions will be streaking that many losses together, not this season at least.
    St. Louis in week 8
    Seattle in week 9.
    Cleveland week 11.
    Arizona week 15.
Those should all be wins for Detroit. Hate to say it, but I think some people might be pumped to play against Marinelli too, so the Bears should be on notice.

He had a better QB rating on the road than at home last season.
