Permanent prison placement for Plaxico

Last week, receiver Plaxico Burress began his two-year prison term.  The early days of it were spent determining where he would spend the balance of it.

According to TMZ, Burress has been assigned to the Oneida Correctional Facility in Rome, New York.

It’s a medium-security facility, but Burress will be kept apart from the general population, and he will be assigned to long-term protective custody.

He has a conditional release date of June 6, 2011, and a parole hearing tentatively is set for April 2011.

Is there any truth to the rumor he hasn’t stopped crying like a little girl since he got in?

If I am reading the info from the following website right, it’s apartment-style living for Plax – he’s got a shower in his room, and will eat most meals in his room. It’s not like a jail with the big concrete hall separated by bars – he’ll be in a locked “modular unit”. Sounds like locked up efficiency apartment style trailers. All inmates are kept separate:

Sorry, not new news, not a liberal apologist, not a raging Democrat, but it’s ridiculous that a guy gets 20 months in state prison for shooting himself in the leg. This is just hack politicians pressuring a prosecutor into making an example out of a celebrity. Another NFL player who made one bad decision and killed a person got a month. This guy makes one bad decision and hurts himself gets almost two years. Our justice system is screwed up.

I’m going to go visit Plax.
He needs a friend right now and I’m there for him.
I’m going to smuggle in a gerbil.

  8. bearsrule says: Sep 30, 2009 9:22 PM

At a minimum securuty joint he’ll have a dorm style room. He’ll be okay. The inmates there have worked their way there through good behavior. It’s very, very doubtful any of them would take a chance on getting sent to a max joint by messing with Burress. No time in prison is easy, but Plax will not be in danger.

Cleanface, we’ve been over this a million times. He wasn’t convicted of shooting himself in his leg. He was convicted of carrying a loaded handgun without a permit and firing it in a nightclub. Get it straight.
Vox, I suppose you’ll have to pull that gerbil out of Romo before giving it to Plax.

  16. BetterThanYou says: Sep 30, 2009 10:24 PM

Get a clue Cleanface. He didn’t get two years for shooting himself, he got two years because he could have shot somebody else. How difficult is that to understand?

Cleanface: he was given that sentence for having a concealed weapon without a valid permit. he had an expired license in florida but that don’t count. he broke the law and now he’s doing time.

  20. leatherneck says: Sep 30, 2009 10:51 PM

Michael Vick got two years for running a gambling operation with dog fighting, and Plaxico Burress hurt himself and ends up in the slammer for about the same amount of time.
I know it’s different jurisdictions, but that ain’t right.
Plaxico should not have received jail time.
And yes, I hate the New York Giants. I just feel like Plaxico got a raw deal.

    ——————————————————We have a winner!
The law they got him on is no longer worth the paper it was written on! The SCOTUS already struck down the DC Gun Ban which was based on, you got it, NY City’s Sullivan Act. It’s just a matter on time before that ruling makes Bloomberg and his crew eat shit.

Cleanface, I’d like to remind you that Mario Reyes ran across a highway against a red light and there is a VIDEO of him doing this act of stupidity that got him killed. Stallworth shouldn’t have been driving but the guy who is 99% responsible for this deadly accident paid the ultimate price.
    Stallworths sentence was very fair.

I heard that Plax smuggled in his squirt gun tucked in his skivvies and when he accidentally shot himself in the thigh (again) they thought he pissed his pants.
Could we get confirmation on that event please?

In unrelated news the Oneida Correctional Facility in upstate New York had to release a 3 time rapist murderer to relieve overcrowding. Apologies to the Oneida community.

it’s a deterrent that is harsh on purpose.

I just love reading this bleeding-heart, avoiding-most-of-the-facts type crap. What? No mention of Vick having to spend time in prison “because he killed dogs?”
As has already been stated many times – Stallworth got off with a lesser sentence because Mr. Reyes was jaywalking. Had Stallworth been sober, he would have gotten off with no sentence, and would still have his bonus money and driver’s license.
Instead of whining here, why don’t you go to Copenhagen and help stump for the Olympics with the leader of the bleeding-hearts while the country continues to fall apart.

  30. texasPHINSfan says: Oct 1, 2009 12:02 PM

i’m curious as to why he gets to be separated from the rest of the inmates? part of the process of serving time in jail is being exposed to the society within the jail.
if he’s being babied, isolated, and in a larger cell, how is that teaching him anything?
    lame. another incarceration system fail.
