No, I’m afraid you are mistaken. It WAS Moss. Look back at his early days in Minnesota. Half-assing it down the field when he knew the play wasn’t coming to him, walking off the field before the game was even over because they were losing, talking smack to reporters, trying to run down a meter maid, pretending to moon the crowd in Green Bay and flipping off hecklers, not showing up for OTAs, and this was all BEFORE he came to Oakland, when he was regaled as one of the greatest wide recievers in the league.
Bottom line on Moss is as soon as the team starts to lose games, everyone stops kissing his butt, shining his shoes, and heralding him as the greatest thing since sliced bread, he quits on the team and runs them into the ground, because the cold hard fact is the only team he plays for is team Randy Moss.

To this day it still baffles me why the Raiders get laughed at for this. IMO it’s the other 30 teams who weren’t smart enough to offer more than a 4th round pick for one of the greatest wr’s of all-time. It’s not like the Raiders turned down a better offer to send him to the Pats. If I remember correctly the Packers were the only other team who was interested and Mr. Favre wanted him badly.
This is a joke on the rest of the league not the Raiders.
Pats – Moss
Raiders – 4th rounder
30 other teams – nothing

Had the Raiders just released Moss and he went to another team we could be talking about a whole different story. But because he was traded for a 4th round pick it somehow gets more significance?
Moss wanted out and was going to get out regardless. The Raiders realized the only way he would help the team would be by leaving via trade for whatever the team could salvage out of him.
Moss was no different than T.O. and his tantrums and fits had to go. He was the first big straw to go after Al fired Shell and decided to make a complete makeover of his offense. Only one starter remains and he’s switched positions, Robert Gallery.
Unfortunately Moss did better when he got to a place that is winning. Moss could never play for a rebuilding squad and that’s exactly what was going to happen prior to the ’07 season so he whined and b*tched his way out.
If you honestly think the Raiders could’ve got more, please explain what team back then was willing to take a chance on him besides NE? You can’t because he was considered a cancer and Oakland was considered fleeced when they traded a 1st round pick and Napolean Harris for him. Oakland was the only team willing to pay the price for him. When Oakland tried dealing him NO ONE was going to offer a first or second round pick for him. It wasn’t going to happen.

Fair enough on your assessment. However, the bigger picture here (be it suprisingly) is ridding the team of the malcontent. Moss wanted out…the Raiders appeased his desire. A fourth round draft pick may have been his market value at the time…I don’t know, but it would not suprise me the least if it was. Most, if not everyone, that watch the NFL game noticed the lack of desire Moss displayed as number 18. Now, a recent post here reported that he may not be going 100% for the Patriots. An all too familar feeling to Raider fans, one that I need not be concerned with…one that I am glad is gone. In a lighter note, I liked Bowie much more than Randy Moss anyway.

Bowie can’t stay on the field. He is brittle. The fact we got ANY draft pick for Moss was a steal.
Moss is a cancer and a quitter. He’s even quitting on routes and blocking NOW, and he’s playing on a super bowl contending team.
Al has made a LOT of lousy choices and decisions. I can’t wait for him to leave the franchise (one way or the other). He is like 3 day old fish. But, getting rid of Moss wasn’t one of his poor decisions. Hiring the retread and Mr. Bed & Breakfast to run that offensive offense was.

Well the Vikings only kept Troy Williamson and Napepolean Harris — two of the three guys they got from the Raiders for Moss — after three years. Harris may have only last two years. The third guy (the 7th round pick) was cut prior to the season.
So basically the Raiders got the same value for trading Moss as the Vikings.

Diva player + strong coach / leadership = success.
Moss lost Brady for a full season, played with a QB who could barely get him the ball, missed the playoffs and was a model citizen.
Players shouldn’t be forced to play on bush league teams like the Raiders. At the end of the day though it’s their fans I feel sorry for their fans.
The NFL needs to step in and take control of that franchise.
I wonder what our 2011 first round pick will be?
