Thursday morning one-liners

Bills CB Terrence McGee is determined to make up for his poor performance in Miami last season.

Playing under Chan Gailey with the Chiefs gives QB Tyler Thigpen a head start to learning the Dolphins offense.

Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski has rescued many failed Patriots drives in the red zone, but he’d be fine if the team didn’t have to call on his services quite so often.

The Jets were missing cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland as well as safety Jim Leonhard at practice on Wednesday.

Rookie Ravens LB Paul Kruger, inactive for all three games thus far, volunteered to play tight end in effort to get on the field.

Bengals DE Jonathan Fanene, LB Rey Maualuga, and DT Domata Peko have all been trying to reach family members in American Samoa following Tuesday’s tsunami.

Browns WR Braylon Edwards hopes that the switch to QB Derek Anderson might lead to more deep balls.

Steelers S Troy Polamalu doesn’t feel that he would have made a big difference in either of the team’s losses.

A hand injury suffered in practice might delay Texans CB Jacques Reeves’s return to the lineup after recovering from a broken leg.

Said Colts DE Dwight Freeney, “I think I’m a fast healer, but I can’t be crazy, either.  It’s not over
yet.  I’m not saying I’m not going to be out there [Sunday], but it
might be a minor setback.”

Jaguars WR Mike Thomas gained 35 yards on two carries last weekend, giving opposing defenses an additional wrinkle to prepare for each week.

Said Titans LB Keith Bulluck, “I don’t think we have been playing with an attitude. It is definitely
time to start doing that.  As a team it is time to go out and there and
force our will upon a team.  We need to take the
mentality that we have to put both hands around the other team’s throat
and choke them out.”

The close relationship between CB Andre Goodman and S Renaldo Hill has been beneficial to the Broncos secondary.

Chiefs coach Todd Haley said that roster changes will continue because the work of shaping the team isn’t done yet.

Three fumbles last Sunday have been weighing heavily on Raiders RB Darren McFadden.

The Chargers defense has been much worse in the first quarter than in the final three.

Cowboys WR Roy Williams said that he’s unclear of what his role he plays in the offense.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin hinted that something was wrong with RB Brandon Jacobs, but that he wouldn’t discuss it during a press conference.

Said Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott of his unit’s performance against the Chiefs, “It’s important that we rebounded the way we did. The opponent didn’t matter.”

Redskins RB Clinton Portis said that it is only “a matter of time” before he has a prolific day running the ball.

Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner admitted that using RB Garrett Wolfe on a third-and-one running play was a mistake.

The Lions signed WR Adam Jennings, a member of the team last year, and released WR Yamon Figurs.

Several Packers greats of the past weighed in on Monday night’s matchup with Brett Favre and the Vikings.

Vikings WR Sidney Rice has quietly contributed to both the passing and running games this season.

Falcons RB Jerious Norwood returned to practice with a new, heavily padded helmet following his concussion.

Panthers CB Richard Marshall fired back at Cowboys WR Roy Williams after Williams called him “terrible” following Monday night’s game.

It looks like Zach Strief will replace the injured Jermon Bushrod as the Saints’ starting left tackle this week.

Said Buccaneers QB Byron Leftwich, “I knew you can’t constantly lose football games and have the two young
guys underneath. I knew I would have to win games, and when that didn’t
happen, I wasn’t surprised about the decision. I was disappointed by
it, but not surprised.”

The Cardinals are interested in re-signing LB Monty Beisel.

The Rams promoted LB Dominic Douglas and DT Leger Douzable from their practice squad and released DT Hollis Thomas.

Said 49ers coach Mike Singletary, “If you were to say I’m a
‘conservative’ guy, that’s great.  I have no problems
with ‘exotic.’  If you were to say I am an exotic coach, that’s fine.  I have no problems with any other adjective you use. But if you say that I am not a winning coach then, I have a problem.”

Seahawks coach Jim Mora admitted that the chance T Walter Jones will miss the entire season has crossed his mind.

Helen Keller could see there is something wrong with Brandon Jacobs, I am sure every team does too.
Vox, please send your post to Roy. If he is really THAT confused, someone better tell him directly in a hurry. Why does a player with as much skills as Roy Williams make so many stupid comments??

to grag a bedard of the milwaukee journal sentinel. fuzzy thurston played on six world champions not five. five with the packers and one with the colts. he’s the only player in nfl history to win six championships.

Braylon should ask Plaxico how many deep balls he’s getting these days.

Despite the error pointed out by packfan66, the Favre article was very interesting and thought provoking.
Interestingly the writer did not call Favre “Lord” or mention polio or anything like that.

    Note to Ron Turner:
The first step is admitting it.
“Several Packers greats of the past weighed in on Monday night’s matchup with Brett Favre and the Vikings”,
including lengthy comments about the nuances of his taint and its potential impact on his ability to play at a high level.

Unfortunately, this is what Coaches Wade and Garrett bring to the Cowboys. There is a lack of leadership, direction and effective communication.
Roy Williams knows he is a WR. The problem he is alluding to reflects the coaching.
Wonder why it is that Coach Wade ALWAYS looks lost on the sidelines. Get one of those “experts” on reading body language to go over the tapes of him on the sidelines and it will be a field day! lol

He had headset trouble the other night. Jerry was calling the plays from up in his box and the damn mike went out. Wade and Garrett both pissed themselves. whattya expect from a couple of inbred Texas sock puppets?

“Cowboys WR Roy Williams said that he’s unclear of what his role he plays in the offense.”
His role is to be the second-most overrated player on the team, next to the guy who throws him the balls that he either can’t catch, or are so off target the cornerback covering Roy can.
