Week Four picks are ready, for amusement purposes only

It’s a good thing Delaware doesn’t have single-game betting.

Wilmington is roughly four hours from where I’m sitting.  So if they had single-game betting, I’d be sitting while driving.

(Unfortunately, there’s no other way to place a bet on football games.)

I say this because I’m riding an unprecedented (for me) hot streak.  Out of 24 games picked in three weekends of action, I’ve gotten 21 of them right.

Last week?  A perfect 8-0.  (And don’t start with the “you aren’t picking against the spread” nonsense.  For every favorite I picked that didn’t cover, an underdog I picked lost the game but won when applying the points.)

In all, the PFT crew is 33-15.  (Which basically means that Rosenthal, at 12-12, should stick to fantasy football.)

This week’s picks are right here

I’ve got a feeling that a correction is coming.  But even if I go zero for the rest of the season, that 21-3 is getting tattooed on my arm, just beneath the spot where it says “child please” in orange and black ink.

The hour of redemption, Monday October 5th, draweth near.
Shall we not forget the 1st Commandment: Thou shall have no other gods but Favre? Even though this game does not lie on the sabbath day, we must also remember the 5th: Honor thy Favre and Peterson. Wouldst thou also break the 3rd, thou shall not take the name of Favre in vain? We must now sacrifice 20 packer virgins, 10 packer idiots, and 1 jets fan so that Favre may be pleased.
When thy Favre sees the smoke from thy heathens burning Favre GB jerseys in Eau Claire, it is then that he shall commensurate the act of finishing off the Packers. They are lambs for the slaughter. So let it be written, so let it be done.

Florio, I’m going to Vegas with your picks!

Please try to avoid sending us to NBC sites, Mike-I always get a real yucky after coming back from them, like I need a shower.
I understand that PFT is now NBC and all, but the difference is that with PFT there remains at least the *illusion* of a buffer–you’re not in DIRECT contact with NBC.
Or, to put it another way, visiting PFT is like banging a hooker with a condom on–but going directly to an NBC site is like diving right in to a Haitian refugee completely bare-back. Yuck.

i enjoy these. at least you guys don’t do all the same bandwagoning that the boring usuals do at SI and ESPN

So does this 21-3 record count your Redskins Superbowl pick genius?
That 8-0 week would have paid out 150-1 odds here in Wilmington. Maybe you should bring all your Sprint Ad Money here and make some wagers.

Clicking through all the teams takes forever.
Tip: use the “Print This” button in the lower right to get everything in one window.

That Broncos over the Cowboys is a ——- joke.

  9. Beezer says: Oct 1, 2009 3:41 PM

The Steelers are the best team in the league?

  10. afrabuck says: Oct 1, 2009 3:56 PM

I’m a bit confused by this sentence.
“The Chiefs lost last week at home to the Raiders, who despite a strong showing in Week 1 looked terrible in their most recent outing against the Broncos. ”
So are you considering the past Sundays games(9/27) to be this weeks games, and the coming Sunday(10/3) to be next weeks games? Seems a bit confusing to say The Chiefs lost last week to the Raiders when the last game the Chiefs played was against the Eagles. I like the picks though, hope they keep coming every week.

    @LightningBolts
That there is a 5/5 tip, my friend.

Wow Florio, I haven’t seen the lines yet but I’m pretty sure you picked EVERY favorite for this week.
Way to go out on a limb. Big Kudos.

    @LightningBolts:
For that tip, you deserve a free copy of Quarterback of the Future for whichever bathroom use suits you best.
    @Florio and/or Rosenthal:
Since when do the Cardinals play in San Diego? Or did I somehow miss Indy playing the Chargers last week?

Saw your pick for the Broncos over the Cowboys.
Can’t say that I agree or disagress with that assesment given that it is hard to tell which Cowboy team will show up.
At the start of the season we had a pretty good balance for running and throwing but that was on paper. If the ‘Boys would just stop shooting themselves in the foot we would be a lot better off.
The victories so far have occurred while allowing the other team to hang around. Can’t afford to do that.

The Saints-Jets 7 point spread is low. The Saints win by at least 10. Sanchez hasn’t been blitz like he will on Sunday and the Saints will force him to have to win the game which I don’t think he can if it becomes a shootout. It’ll be a good game nonetheless and the Superdome will be quite loud.

“I’ve got to tell you that if I was playing for the Packers in this ball game, I would tell you one thing: In my mind, deeply buried in me, would be a desire to get to Brett. I think the motivation on every play would be to get to Brett.”

Got to love that 6-2 Redskins-Bucs score.

Sorry Mike it doesnt work that way. I know you want it to but it just doesnt. See if you were picking the games against the spread your thinking would have been totally different. Alot of the teams you picked to win you might not have picked if you were using the spread. So it doesnt matter if it evens out after the fact that you still would have won the same out of games because you wouldnt have picked alot of those games if you were using the spread. It stings I know.

please stop sending us to those sites with the vibrant ads… im on the verge of bailing from this site because of it.

  20. abucsfan says: Oct 1, 2009 8:56 PM

Ah 6 – 2 ? 2 points would have to indicate that the Bucs D can pull a safety out of their hats? I think that requires a defense to do it. Maybe it’ll show up Sunday?

  21. TheWizard says: Oct 1, 2009 9:14 PM

Pats over Ravens won’t be a trendy pick this week.
I’m really looking forward to that one.
    28-10 Pats

Read the Giants-Chiefs post… the G-men upset the pats in Superbowl XLII, not XL. The Steelers (and refs) beat the Seahawks in XL.
    Way to edit

    LOL Bitchplease!
    And I’d like to add.
I–have a dream……….that one Packer fans everywhere will judge a man,,,,,,,,NOT,,, by the color of his jersey,,,,, but by his character.
And also by how many winning seasons he has had.

  24. enuffalready13 says: Oct 2, 2009 6:33 AM

The Pats-Ravens game should be a great test for both teams. Will Brady be able to withstand the defensive pressure. And will Flacco beat the defensive scheming of Coach Bill? Looking forward to this one.

  25. BRUZER55 says: Oct 2, 2009 11:58 AM

Packers defense can’t stop anyone, lucky in not giving up tons of points. Vikes will murder Rogers and the Pack will not score much on that D
Lions upset Bears in Soldier? Lucky you stuck with Bears, Lions will come in over confident and get wiped because they are really not very good.

Love the NFL, best reality around.
For this week, Favre stops flip-flopping, lets the Packers know he his back (w/ AP in tow, sorry Cheeseheads).
For this week, Daniel (didn’t Jack Kent Cooke leave any instructions?) Snyder starts flip-flopping over the future of my beloved ‘Skins. Alas, Vinny Cerrato gets to stay in Snyderland, but see Zornstock coming to a quick end.
For this week, ah, Florio covered the rest.

Be prepared to eat your words. I predict a breakout game for the Redskins. I’m going Redsking 24, Bucs 7.

Funny, how for a few $$$ and Favre signing with the Viqueens, changes many of the Viqueen Favre Haters into thinking, all of a sudden, Brett’s “The Man”. And now because Brett waffled and wavered, (and Packer brass did what was, in my opinion, the best for the team’s success) he now is reviled by many in the Packer Nation. To me, Brett is the “Alpha-Omega Man” and should be, to ALL NFL fans, not just Viquen and Packers fans. I hate he’s not with the beloved Pack but that’s “modern era” NFL. It is what it is…Just a game with highly paid entertainers. Brett was great with the Pack and that can’t be taken away. I wish him nothing but good health and many bad games (tonight, included) as long as he’s the opposing QB. GO PACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
