Harrison likely to start for Browns, McDonald benched

If you squinted hard enough during Cleveland’s 34-3 loss in Baltimore last week, you could see a flicker of hope from the Browns offense.

That hope came in the form of running back Jerome Harrison, who put up 85 yards on 21 touches, nearly half of Cleveland’s total offense.

Harrison ran better than expected between the tackles and was a weapon when he received a little room on screen passes.

Browns fans have wanted Harrison to get more work for a long time, and they should get their wish this weekend with Harrison likely to get his second start in a row, this time against the Bengals.

Usual starter Jamal Lewis is listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury, while backup James Davis was a late addition to the injury report as questionable with a shoulder injury.

Cleveland also will have a shakeup in their secondary.  The Cleveland Plain Dealer credits a source that cornerback Brandon McDonald will be benched this week in favor of Mike Adams.

The Browns intend to find that source, then draw and quarter him.

This could be a major factor preventing Cincinatti from covering the 42 point spread.

The source could be the OBR….read this yesterday…Also that Coye Francies will be the nickel back in place of Poteat….

I’ve gotta say, that last sentence was pretty funny. Now I’m all for benching McDonald…the guy is a waste and somehow STILL a dipshit prima donna. But why with Mike Adams? Nothing against him, but why not put in the rookie, Francies? This team is going nowhere so might as well find out if we got any diamonds in the rough with some late rookies. Hell, play the kids at Linebacker. And for christ sake, would you please dress your 2nd round pick wide receiver????? We have no receivers and you’re sitting the 36th overall pick in place of a special teamer nobody’s ever heard of? Come on Mangini, we’ve been a laughing stock for 11 years, and somehow you’re making it even worse. Give us some pride back for god sake.

Halleluja! Finally someone benched McDonald, the guy is a scrub at CB, he was all last season and he continued to be this season. Good move.

Where is this place called “Cincinatti”? Is it anywhere near Pitsburg?

PFT please don’t report anything related to the browns unless the words ”Mangini” and ”fired” are somewhere placed in the article.
Sorry browns fans but this is the way I would want it if I was in your situation.

Wow meezle…you must want Steve Spagnuolo fired even more then right? Since the Rams are 0-3 in his first season and their offense is actually scoring fewer points than the Browns through 3 games. If you want Mangini gone so bad after 3 games…I cant imagine the level at which you think Spagnuolo is under-performing in St.Louis……..oh wait, all coaches with a new team are getting a pass EXCEPT Mangini this year…I keep forgetting that.

Why not get rid of Penguini ? The Browns are no better off then they were at the end 2oo8. Oh wait! The offensive did score a garbage time touchdown against the Vikings ! That is more than they did under Crennel (a.k.a Mr. Butterworth) the last 6 games. Woohoo! We have a roster full of rejects from the NYJ who are even worse than the bums on last years defense. The current coach is more concerned with passing out meaningless fines for water bottles than he seems to be scoring points and having a defense that doesn’t cough up 30 points a game.
We got Mr. Butterworth Jr. – A coach who trades the 5th pick in the draft to pick a Center in the 1st round so we can acquire more ex-Jets. A coach who passes on two quality linebackers for two Receivers who he won’t even play! Instead, he is more concerned with playing “I have a secret” with the media about the starting quarterback. The replacement QB throws 3 interceptions in a half. These coaching decisions reek of Man-genius. What a joke!
