There are less stressful jobs than NFL cornerback. The money's good but the career is short. The celebrity aspect seems interesting but in reality, it's often more trouble than it's worth.
And when you have a bad day at the office, it won't just be your boss chewing on your hindquarters for the next few days.
So it's no surprise that a player like Giants corner Aaron Ross got a little sideways mentally during an up-and-down 2008 and "fell out of love with the game." It happens.
But now that he's battling recurring hamstring injuries, Ross is working to stay out of that mental rut, as Mike Garofalo of the Newark Star Ledger writes.
Because he was open with his coaches about his lack of purpose in 2008, Giants coach Tom Coughlin is working now to make sure Ross isn't getting down.
"I just try to talk to him about the fact that everybody is pulling for him. Everybody is hoping that he gets himself ready to play," Coughlin said. "Everyone knows how frustrated he is. 'Don't make it worse by overreacting to it. It's a long season and hopefully we will get you sooner than later.'"
Ross at least sounds like he's dealing better this year.
"Last year, I was thinking about how many more years I had left to play," he told Garofalo. "Now, I feel like I want to play forever. I'm just glad it was a one-year thing.I feel really good. I feel like I'm in love with football again."
I can guarantee that this article would have been 100 times better if Florio had written it.
I guess this happens to more people than not in different asopects of my life.
Sounds like Shawn Andrews... Let the ripping begin.
I'll bet Aaron wouldn't be such a pouty-face if he got a nice, new $40 million dollar contract extension...
Turn that frown upside-down Aaron!
