Cutler pulls an Elway

The man who was poised to be the next long-term fixture at quarterback in Denver has mimicked one of John Elway’s all-time great plays.

From third and goal at the Lions’ five, and trailing Detroit by seven points early, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler dropped back and looked for an open receiver. Seeing none, he rolled left and, despite a series of broken ribs recently suffered by NFL starting quarterbacks, Cutler dove for it.

He was spun around, helicopter style, and managed to break the plane with the ball. While not breaking any portion of his body.

And so it’s knotted up early, as the Lions try to double their one-game winning streak.
