I forgot to fire up the DVR before heading to NYC, so I didn’t think I’d be seeing the Saturday segment, with Peter King and Jimmy Roberts, from halftime of the Washington-Notre Dame game.
(And, actually, that’s fine with me. I hate my voice on tape. It always sounds so high and whiny.)
But, lo and behold, the segment currently appears at the top of the NBCSports.com page.
(And if it’s gone from the top of the page by the time you visit NBCSports.com, here it is.)
Here’s one thing was that intriguing to me. When it was aired on Saturday, NBC was able to use game footage during the segment. On the Internet, the league allows still frames only.
It’s not a complaint — only an observation. After all, I just run the plays that are called.
So Florio, are you the one responsible for NBC going to its regularly scheduled programming, Access Hollywood, for the first 2 plays of OT in the ND/UDub game?
1st rate operation my ball sack.
I watched the segment. As much as I bitch about some of your shortcomings, I obviously love reading your site. I find Peter King to be a complete douche bag and I was surprised to hear a couple of the things that came out of his mouth. I was hoping you would correct him or point out that his theories are garbage. Ah well, save it for another time. I guess there is a bet laid down for a coffee. San Diego winning in Pitt, yeah right. He has no idea what he’s talking about.
Not too bad there Mike!
Good job Florio. One suggestion, don’t start all your responses to Pumpkinhead with “Yeah but”
The lawyer training definitely helps being on tv, glad to see you did great Mike. The thing that was most interesting to me is King talking about Garcia and the Raiders, I have not been a fan of King but I have to admit he is right most of the time and and I hope the Raiders sign Garcia and we try to salvage whats left of the season.
Thank God the producers are able to handle your voice like Brittney Spears’ when she goes “live”, and avoid airing something similar to this…..

Yeah the only complaint that I have is that the questions in that segment were some generic softball topics that didn’t really set up anything that interesting to talk about.
I think Florio missed out on making a unique observation with the Crabtree situation. I would have angled to take a different perspective than the mainstream since nobody else is doing that. It would give you a chance to really put yourself in a minority, and in the world of sports reporting, that can be worth a pot of gold to pick the open lane to set apart yourself apart from the masses.
you are right on the mark, it doesn’t just sound high and whiny, that is what the rest of us hear as well
