Raiders coach Tom Cable could still face a league-mandated suspension from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
It’s uncertain, though, if Cable will also face prosecution for the incident involving Raiders defensive assistant Randy Hanson, but NFL’s Jason La Canfora reports that the investigation is complete.
Lee Philipson, the Assistant District Attorney for Napa County, California, says that no decision has been made yet in Cable’s case. It’s still “under review.”
A report from Yahoo! Sunday night said that an arrest could come anytime, and the Raiders were trying to make plans in case Cable is taken away.
“Everybody is trying to figure out who’s going to take over if Tom isn’t here,” an anonymous assistant coach told Jason Cole. “John Marshall has a lot of experience, he’s probably the guy. But it’s nuts. It’s crazy when you start to really think about it.”
Yes it is, even for the Raiders.
The NFL is investigating the matter, but League spokesman Greg Aiello told the league’s website that there is no planned meeting between Commissioner Roger Goodell and Cable, despite a report to the contrary on Fox Sunday.
For now, the league appears to be treating the issue as a law enforcement matter.
Aiello said the league “will proceed accordingly at the appropriate time.”
