can somebody tell me if redman goes back to the practice squad or if he is not a steeler and could be picked up on waivers. this kid is a good football player and it would be ashamed to see him gone.

Why would this be against the rules? Any team that really wanted to go after the player cut is welcome to do so.
They elevated Redman because of the Parker injury. He didn’t play because Mendenhall was a beast. Stop harping on this non-story.

They made the move because Willie Parker will be suiting up this week, and they don’t want to go into the game with more than 4 active RB’s (Mendenhall, Parker, fullback Carey Davis, and Mewelde Moore). Redman should get his chance as soon as there is another injury.
By the way, you did not mention Stefan Logan for the Steelers laying out Darren Sproles with a vicious tackle on a kick return – 5’6″ guy on 5’6″ guy violence, courtesy of the NFL.
