Still no communication between Crabtree and 49ers

We mentioned in our first edition of The Morning After (we’ll be pimping it like the Leno show) that Deion Sanders suggested during NFL Network’s GameDay Final that unsigned receiver Michael Crabtree might soon by joining the 49ers.

And we explained that there are two possibilities: Crabtree has decided to take the pending offer, or the Niners are willing to give Crabtree more money.

If Crabtree is planning to show up, it’ll be the former. Per a league source, there has still been no communication between the two sides.

Indeed, we’re told that the team’s reaction to Sanders’ hint-dropping was confusion, and then apathy.

“They don’t care,” the source said. “They won 35-0.”

Strengthening the team’s position is that there’s zero pressure on the 49ers to get Crabtree signed, with no paying customers wearing jerseys or waving signs urging San Fran to pay the man.

So, yeah, if Deion knows what he’s talking about on this one, Crabtree could be taking the money that has been available for three months, which to date has not been reduced by the team.

“He’d better take it,” the source said. “Before they do.”
