Giants work out Matt Stover, but stick with Lawrence Tynes

Lawrence Tynes remains the Giants kicker, for now.

As previously reported, the team brought in Matt Bryant, a former Giant most recently with the Bucs, for a workout on Tuesday. Tom Rock of Newsday reports that they also took a look at longtime Ravens kicker Matt Stover. They’ve decided to pass on both guys at the moment and stick with Tynes, however.

Tynes has made 10 of his 13 field goal attempts thus far this season, and has missed a kick in each of the team’s last three games. He missed a 38-yard attempt against the Chiefs on Sunday, an improvement of sorts over his previous misses from 21 and 29 yards.

Usually a relationship is doomed when one party tells the other that they’re actively looking for a better companion, but we’ll see if today’s workouts scare Tynes’ kicks straight.
