Please. Last year the Packers (with Clifton and Tauscher) gave up 34 sacks. Doesn’t sound very good. Then you look and see that Frerotte and Jackson were sacked a combined 43 times last season.
So yeah, I think when Clifton is healthy he’s better than Colledge (playing out of position) or TJ Lang (a developmental project). Odom DID put up more sacks against better players.

I gave the Vikings credit for the win in the “Pack-Vikes living up to the hype” thread. And I made no excuses. There were no excuses. Officiating was bad, but made absolutely no difference in the outcome, so there’s no point bringing it up. I think the only people who brought it up didn’t realize there were two penalties on that PI/endzone play or were grabbing at straws.
And who’s licking wounds? If the almighty Vikings couldn’t beat the same team the lowly Bengals beat, how good could they possibly be? I mean, Jared Allen didn’t even get as many sacks as Antwan Odom. And Odom was playing against better players!
Hell, they made Peterson looked like a Pop Warner running back next to Cedric Benson’s performance.
Hahaha. Licking wounds. That loss was expected. The Bengals loss was one to lick wounds over.

@packers4life – You did a great job of shutting down AD. Thus the reason Favre scorched you. Favre gives us that dimension we were missing. Now the d must be more balanced in attacking the Vikes. Stack the box and stop AD then Brett will bomb away; go light up front and AD will run all day. So cliche’ but Favre was the missing piece to the off. puzzle for us.

Supersuckers–On the first drive alone he got beat for a catch that got them down to like the 10-15 yard line. His man was 5 yards behind him. Maybe he was supposed to let him by, I don;t know. On the first TD when Favre looks right for like 3 minutes and then finally turns around and fires left are those not Harris’ dreadlocks flying in the wind? I’m sure he probably did not get help he was expecting a few times but I don;t think he’s played up to his talent level all year. Maybe I’m being too harsh. I’m not in a very good mood right now (which is really kinda ridculous–it is only a game) and maybe I’m remembering too much of Plaxico having his way with him in that NFC Champ game against the Giants.

Another news flash for Packers fans in denial. They weren’t that close at the end. They never possessed the ball in the 4th quarter with a chance to tie or take the lead.
Onside kick chance is league average 20% when the opposing team expects it. If they get the onside, they maybe have 30-40% chance of scoring a TD before time expires. If they do that, then they have a 50% chance I suppose of winning in overtime.
Add that all up and basically the Packers had a 3-4% chance of winning the game at the end in that situation. And that was after they were fortunate to put up 10 against the Vikings conservative offense and defensive schemes at the end.
Any time you are down 16 in the 4th quarter against a good D you really aren’t that “close”. They were able to surge back to having a less than 5% chance of winning. Impressive.

got to give you props for your post. Unlike most other GB fans that have been finding every lil excuse they can find.
In the end, a win is a win no matter how it is obtained. No matter if a blown call for or against. Those happen in virtually every game.
Rodgers “could” be a decent QB but the GB line has GOT to start protecting him. If the pattern holds, he will be sacked 60 more times this year alone. Not good for ANY QB!
The whole revenge angle was played up mostly by the media, and no matter how much Favre tried to deny it, it HAD to be on his mind and part of his mindset for the night.
I hope the Vikes can get themselves just as psyched up for the next meeting!

Interesting enough, over at the Green Bay Pressregret the Fire Thompson threads have begun to appear. It seems the drubbing my boy took has started a schism of sorts.
How did a forty year old washed up QB beat a Team that was supposed to go to the big dance based on their pre-season play ?
Dom Capers was suppose to be the answer on Defense but the only time the Packers Defense got to touch a QB was after the game when they shook hands.
I specially enjoyed ESPN breaking away to show the Purple Jersey wearing Fans celebrating Brett’s TD’s at Brett Favre’s Steakhouse on a street named “Brett Favre Pass” downtown Green Bay. That was just good TV.

Favre flat out torched the packers. All the way. Loved it. What a laugh. Al Harris got punked big time. Really enjoyed the look on McCarthy’s face as well as the desperation of the face of Rodgers. Beautiful man.
I especially liked how the packers thought by taking AP out of the mix, that they could expose Favre. They did, and Favre and the Vikings thank them.
Hilarious. Eat that one Favre haters.
