After four games, its obvious the 49ers offense needs a spark. If i can see that, I’m sure Crabtree sees that. I’m under the assumption Crabtree feels like he is the missing piece needed for this offense. I agree to that assumption. Those who watch niner games would agree as well. I’m sure he feels bad now for missing all this time.
Its a good sign, hopefully he signs this week. It shows that he trying to make amends from his mistakes.
I’m betting he will be on the field againts the Texans after the bye week. Crabtree is one of the best slant recievers I’ve ever seen in college. Suited for a QB like Hill. Vernon Davis wont be doubled anymore, Gore will see less defenders in the box. I believe he has the talent to take the niner offense to that elite level. 27th ranked offense is not going to cut it.

Why is there the thought he won’t be able to contribute? He’s a WR, not a QB. Hell Bobby Wade was signed on a Tuesday, crammed the new playbook, and was the Chiefs leading receiver that Sunday. It may take him a few more games being a rookie to get going and in shape, but he’ll be starting and contributing withing a few weeks. It’s not like the Jimmy Raye’s offense is that complicated.

He is a bandwagon jumber. He is jumping on now that the Niners are doing so well. What will happen if things don’g go so well? We saw for months what happens when he does not get what he wants.
But it sounds like the Niners may sign him. His salary will be prorated…management has already said they are docking him for every game missed. But he also has to do a mea culpa on live tv and be honest about his agent and the reasons behind a hold-out and sudden interest in speaking. He disrespected the owner by not responding to a request to meet a week ago. Now with the 35-0 spanking, he wants to talk. That is just arrogance. There had also better be some clauses about his injury…he gets injured in the first few games and he will lose additional salary. We cannot reward someone who did not go through training camp, who did not suffer with the rest of him teammates, and who has not publicly said anything that shows contrition.
Personally, shipping him off to the Traitors or to Bills with TO would be justice served on a cold plate.

Crabtree is awesome and he will turn out to be a great player. Yes he has missed Training camp and four games so he might not put up any amazing numbers this year, but he will put up numbers in the years to come. He is in a very good system in my opinion and Singletary will make him work hard and he will be ready. This is why I don’t think he will be a bust because if you are in a good system you are going to play good, this is why Jamarcus Russell is struggling because he held out and didn’t go into a good system. No offense radiers fans.

Does anyone think anyone in the NFL (SF office or otherwise) or Crabtree really care what a bunch of working stiffs think? Wasting your time postulating about someone and something you have no control over or input into is stupid. If he caved, so what? He will be a millionaire either way, and how many of you can say that? LOL

I think Crabtree and/or his agent have finally realized that if he doesn’t take what the Niners are offering he will be back in the draft next year and will very likely get drafted after the 10th pick in the first round.
Who knows, it’s always possible the Raiders would pick him 4th overall (or somewhere near there depending on if the Raiders win another game) and he can still live in the Bay Area, but he would be playing for the Raiders a totally dysfunctional franchise and not the resurgent Niners!

While he has the physical talent, his attitude guarantys he will be a disruptive, negative influence for the team. If they sign him at the same pay package, after missing what in effect will be half the season, the other players will resent rewarding him for being such a petulant adolescent.
Call his bluff. Make him take a pay cut or let him go back to playing video games for a year.

Understand where you’re coming from. You’re forgetting that the NFL is a business, this is hardly as much in Crabtree’s control as it in Eugene Parker’s (his agent). I disagree with you in the fact that more and more players are going to do this in the future, a) because there is going to be a rookie pay scale adapted to the NFL soon, and b) players aren’t as stupid as Crabtree and JaMarcus Russell, and they want to play. It’s a learning lesson for management and players, that nobody is really winning when this happens, except for the 49ers on the field, that is.

i think it has NOTHING to do with Brown’s words. I think it is just about the fact the team is doing well without him, and he’s wanting to get in on the good action.
I bet if the Niners were 0-4 right now, or 1-3, Crabtree would still be sitting at home.
this is all despicable. the niners should lower the offer since he has missed a quarter of the season, all of the offseason, and training camp. Offer him 12th slot money and let him be happy with that. he won’t be much of a contributor immediately anyway.
If the 49′ers offer him 10th slot money right now, i’ll be seriously disappointed and you could chalk this up as a win to Crabtree.

During the whole impasse, the Niners took the high ground and held firm which is good business sense and good PR for the league.
Once they sign him, he is officially their property and a new PR game commences. They cannot have him coming off looking stupid or punished, so my money is on the Niners not reducing the offer.
The comment above about adding a 6th year (thus changing the numbers around) and an incentive laden option to void the 6th year would be a possible win-win for both sides.
The key here for the 49ers is to clearly show Crabtree caved, but to do so respectfully and fostering a good relationship moving forward.

Since none of us are NFL front office professionals, I’ll refrain from pontificating about what the 49ers have to do , or weigh in on what a punk/bust/suspected communist Crabtree is or isn’t.
What I want to consider is this: how much (if at all) did the filing of tampering charges affect Parker’s/Crabtree’s plan? Is it possible that any superior offers that had previously existed for Crabtree were pulled from the table in light of the NFL’s investigation? If that were the case, I would absolutely think that the lack of better options is the prime motivating factor to have Crabtree accept the 49ers offer–not the 49ers success, public sentiment, or words offered by Jim Brown.
Also interesting: it would seem appropriate for Crabtree to part ways with Parker in order to save face with his new team. Instead, he is choosing to move forward with Parker. Why? Is Crabtree just a loyal guy?

Of course he can play, but why have such a non-chalant opinion of his awful behavior?? You’re an enabler. I HOPE people give this guy a hard time. If not, it will simply encourage MORE players to do the same thing next year and the year after. Doing what he did was BS and he needs to learn that. Crabtree is EXACTLY the type of player who will never win a Super Bowl, nor will the team he plays for.
He is not about “team” because for him it’s all about “me”. There is no erasing the damage he has done before he’s ever caught his first NFL pass. He is a dumbass for allowing his agent to take him down this path.
Please explain how he will ever help his team when they fall upon tough times during the season? Maybe he can stand infront of the press and whine his ass off like T.O. and Chad Ocho Zero.
Here’s hoping the 49er’s do not sign him and he actually re-enters the draft next year. THAT would be the storyline of the draft…..how far can he drop?
