Packers bringing back Tauscher

With their good offensive linemen hurt and their healthy offensive linemen not good enough to keep the Vikings from registering eight sacks on Monday night, the Packers are turning to an old friend.

Mark Tauscher.

Per Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the return of Tauscher to the team is “imminent provided things work out.”

Coach Mike McCarthy said earlier in the day that Tauscher had arrived for a workout.

Tauscher made the team as a seventh-round draft pick in 2000, and he started 14 games as a rookie. He spent nine seasons in Green Bay, starting 120 games.

Last week, Tauscher worked out for the Chiefs.

If an agreement can’t be reached with Tauscher, the Packers will be signing Tony Mandarich.

We’re kidding.

We think.
