Browns get Stuckey, Trusnik, and picks for Edwards

Details are emerging regarding the consideration the Browns have received for receiver Braylon Edwards from the Jets.

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN and Jay Glazer of FOX, the Browns get linebacker Jason Trusnik and draft picks.

Glazer reports that receiver Chansi Stuckey is also part of the deal.

UPDATE:  Glazer reports there are two draft picks; Schefter says they’re believed to be a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick.

Alright….are either of those guys any good?

OOOOHHHHH NNNOOOOO!!!!! What are the Browns gonna do without the 2-3 dropped passes a game?

So I guess Braylon Edwards “punched” his ticket to leave Cleveland!!!

  4. Krow says: Oct 7, 2009 9:00 AM

There’s definitely a “win now” air about the Jets. Not exactly desperate, but certainly risky.

  5. Brohamma says: Oct 7, 2009 9:04 AM

With the Edwards garbage right now, Stucky for Braylon straight up would still be a win situation for Cleveland. But to add a special team/LB and a third and fifth round pick.. can you say robbery!?
Good luck surviving in NY Stonehands.

  6. Jeremy Hurst says: Oct 7, 2009 9:05 AM

Stuckey is fair at best, and I’ve never heard of the linebacker.
And we all know Cleveland is going to blow the 3rd and 5th rounders on some ‘project’ guys that will pan out to be busts, even for their draft positions.
All in all, Cleveland’s starting receivers are Chansi Stuckey, Mohommed Massaquoi, and Josh Cribbs.
That will sure help stretch the field.
    I’m depressed.

Addition by subtraction. I feel bad foe Chanci Stuckey. He goes from catching passes from Bret Favre to listening to Eric Vangina lisp. Somebody get him a drink.

  8. whywerule says: Oct 7, 2009 9:08 AM

Well I guess Edwards, although physically gifted, was mostly a headache for the Browns so they sound like they made out okay. I was under the impression that Stuckey was developing at least into a serviceable #3 or #4 WR; so getting Stuckey plus 3rd and 5th round picks and a special teams LB for Edwards is not too bad.

  9. Ralph Gre Nader says: Oct 7, 2009 9:09 AM

Thats not a very good package….Somebody dropped the ball on this one.

  10. Nevisyakker says: Oct 7, 2009 9:09 AM

Good luck NYJ!!! You’ve reached out and grabbed an idiot with bad hands and all the common sense of a gnat.
As for Cleveland, good for you for unloading the waste heap, but man, you got a pile maybes for a former—what was it—3rd pick over all?

  11. TampaDawg11 says: Oct 7, 2009 9:10 AM

Two draft picks, a solid special teams player and #3 receiver at worst. What a great trade! He was leaving after the year anyways so we received about as much as we could considering the idiot he was. Let the roster transformation begin!

“Alright….are either of those guys any good?”
    Quantity over quality.
Regardless of what they got for him, this is a clear case of addition by subtraction. It has been reported locally that Braylon has been the source of locker room discontent with Mangini (e.g., fines, grievances) This is the same guy that couldn’t keep his s–t together even under Grandpa Romeo’s rules, so no surprise there.
Braylon’s on record as being more concerned about being a star first, football player second. Acting aspirations. Whining about the Lebron James wall at Tower City–remember when he whined about how that should be him and not Lebron?
Dude was a textbook cancer. The Browns weren’t going anywhere with him on the team this year, and he would have been impossible to re-sign–better to embrace the rebuilding now, and let’s see what they got with those two 2nd round WRs.

  13. stevemcguigan says: Oct 7, 2009 9:11 AM

What’s really sad is that Chansi Stuckey is about to become a team’s #1 wideout.

  14. Florida Boi says: Oct 7, 2009 9:11 AM

Watch out for the Jets, they look like they’re gonna be the winners of the AFC East

  15. Devils Advocate says: Oct 7, 2009 9:11 AM

looks like there is a sense of urgency in New York
do they have any draft picks left in the future?
they are cashing in assets like drunken sailors.

  16. Ralph Gre Nader says: Oct 7, 2009 9:12 AM

So dropping balls wasnt enough, he just had to start dropping Club owners.
On a another note let me just say that “club” owner probably deserved it. Going to a Night club in Cleveland is like trying to find good sushi in Montana.

  17. Igottz5onit says: Oct 7, 2009 9:14 AM

Chansi Stuckey would have been a good trade for Braylon Edwards by himself , at least Stuckey can catch and doesn’t have an attitude problem. The rest is just a bonus. I wish the Steelers would have played them before this deal but I am still confident.

Yep, and that’s what scares me…. I can deal with losses as long as they show growth and stay competitive. But my glass-half-full friends that are looking forward to that top-5 draft pick next year… gosh, I dread that. Zero faith in Mangini/Kokinis to draft well, seeing how they handled the ’09 draft.

  23. Wiscdave says: Oct 7, 2009 9:37 AM

If Cleveland was too small for Edwards’ ego and Lebron James, how is he going to deal with all that’s happening in New York? This sounds like a classic FU to Edwards.

I feel sorry for Lebron’s friend. As soon as players begin to find out that all they have to do to get out of Cleveland is punch him in his face he is going to be constantly getting trucked by some large NFL players for the next few weeks.

  27. birdmancometh says: Oct 7, 2009 9:59 AM

I think this is good for the Jets and Braylon. All joking aside about the last 20 games he’s played, he’s a talented guy. If he buys into Ryan, he and Sanchez could make a pretty good tandem.

  28. Ken1313 says: Oct 7, 2009 10:07 AM

A couple factors to think about here……first…the players the Browns received…..obviously…Mangini coached them last year and as with alot of coaches who get new jobs…they try to trade for players on their old teams who they think are almost at the breakout point. Stuckey has looked pretty good so far this year…and MAYBE Mangini feels he is close to be a star. Trusnick is a very good special teams player…..other than that..no idea if he is any good. The draft picks as with any trade…are a crapshoot. You can give a monkey two draft picks and a stack of flash cards with names on it…and he might make a good pick or two…..Mangini is just a little bit smarter than a monkey(giving him the benefit of a doubt)
    Time will tell.
As for Edwards……..this is a risky trade for the Jets…….if charges are filed for the Cleveland incident…he could face jail time (long shot) and DEFINITELY a code of conduct suspension from Goodell. The average suspension has been 3-4 games for these violations.
The Jets may have traded for aplayer they won’t even be able to use for a month (or longer) if he gets suspended…OR…maybe the change of scenery will help and Edwards may go back to being a decent to good WR.
    Time will tell.

  29. Brohamma says: Oct 7, 2009 10:08 AM

The only problem birdman is Braylon’s case of Stonehands on Sunday. Edwards is ranked 78th currently while Stuckey is 93rd. There isn’t much of a difference in their numbers at the moment but there is in regards to their salary cap. On top of that, whenever you can land draft picks… 3rd and 5th rounders in this case, you are doing good.
The big question here is if the “Mankok” combo in Cleveland will be smart enough to package the picks and move up in the next draft. If so, they would get a player for player trade with a special team/LB and a possible move into the mid to high second round.

I’m not a Jets fan in the slightest…..but that was one ridiculous statement. Sanchez had one bad game so far……other than that..he has shown himself to be a very good rookie QB who will get better as he plays more. This is a PATRIOTS fan saying this…….so you know it pains me to say it too

what does last year have to do with this year? You have heard the saying that every year is a new year right douche? If we are gonna go back beyond this year then you could say the trade is great for Braylon now he doesnt have to catch balls from Charlie Frye.
