Its not as if Eli needs to gel with his receivers more or learn more of the offense. He needs to pick up the tells from the Raiders defense. So yeah it doesn’t matter if he can practice and he can go out there for the first series and see how things feel. That way he gets 83 starts and can come out if need be.

Kevin Boothe was let go by the Raiders who are thin on Oline. Who dumped this guy? Was that Kiffin or Cable? Whoever did it, you suck.
He starts for the Gmen and should have never been let go by the Raiders now with the WORSE ONLINE in the league and no one to develope what little talent they have.
David Carr is better that Jamar-suck Russell. In fact, any 2nd stringer is better than JR. Maybe we can get the person “Who Shot JR” from the Dallas TV show to shoot Russell and his fat ass. Or Plex could let him use his pistol and JR can shoot himself in the ass and RETIRE FOREVER!

i think if he can take the pain you play him. we need to ensure victories in the games against lesser teams before the gauntlet schedule and who knows what can happen if carr is playing. oakland played SD tough and with carr the gmen will have no passing threat. when thats the issue other teams can just stack up the box and tee off on a qb who gets hurried and wont step up in the pocket. if eli says i dont feel up to it then go with carr, if he can be effective theres no reason to treat this game as anything less than a competition in the national football league where you play your best players.

They could run the Wildcat with an Offensive Lineman and get passed “da Raida’s!!!!”…wait isn’t that the Raiders offense now with JaMarcus!!!
Hopefully, Eli can heal quick so the Saints can play staright up (no opposing team excuses) next Sunday!!

Carr should start for two reasons.
1) No better game for NY to be without Eli . Oakland is not a division opponent, not even in the NFC. Another week to heal never hurt any injury.
2) If Eli’s foot problems linger or get worse, Carr will be forced to start. Therefore, Carr should have a full game being the starter under his belt PRIOR to facing a crucial opponent (Saints, Eagles, etc). Yes, Carr has been a starter before in the League, but not with these players, especially the WRs. Most of Carr’s snaps in NY has come with the second unit. Allow him a full game to work with the O line and WRs before NY’s schedule gets nasty.
