The Colts are getting healthy

Here’s a scary thought for the rest of the AFC South: The 4-0 Colts have done their damage with one hand tied behind their back because of injuries.

And unlike the Giants, for example, the Colts are expecting to get their all key injured players back in the lineup. Starting now.

Starting middle linebacker Gary Brackett returned to practice Wednesday, and is fully expected to start Sunday night against the Titans.

2007 Defensive Player of the Year safety Bob Sanders also began “ramping up his activity” according to coach Jim Caldwell. Sanders’ status for Sunday is less certain, but his return to the field is a good sign his recovery from knee surgery is improving.

Dwight Freeney, who surprisingly played 17 snaps last week and recorded a sack, is also expected to play against Tennessee.

Throw in the expected return of starting wideout Anthony Gonzalez sometime shortly after the Colts’ Week Six bye, and the number two team in this week’s power rankings should be getting even better.

It’s early, but not too early to think that the Colts are getting in pole position for a playoff bye.
