It didn’t take Jeremiah Trotter long to work his way back into the starting lineup.
Desperate for some run-stopping help, Trotter is expected to get the nod as a starter over Omar Gaither in his first game back to the NFL. While Trotter could prove to be one of the stories of this NFL season, his immediate climb up the depth chart doesn’t speak well for Philly’s confidence in Gaither.
Trotter’s ascendence is in contrast to the Eagles offense, which has a full-fledged youth movement going on at the skill positions.
Jeremy Maclin is expected to get the call at wide receiver over Kevin Curtis, who was missing from practice Friday. Curtis has been unable to shake a nagging knee injury.
Rookie LeSean McCoy expected to have a big role splitting work with Brian Westbrook this week and tight end Brent Celek is emerging as one of the best pass-catchers at his position in the league. DeSean Jackson has taken the next step towards being a true number one receiver.
Now it’s just up to Donovan McNabb to show he’s healthy enough to get all his young teammates involved.
The AXEMAN will be a big time player this year for the birds run defense. Its to bad we didn’t keep future HOF saftey Brian Dawkins. I guess its ok. We did sure up back up saftey and back up quarterback/dog murder scumbag with the money we could have given the most beloved Eagle of all time. I guess they were right he lost a step, I mean really is Denvers defense any better this season? Its not like he can help completely turn around a joke of a defense. I’m sure glad Joe Banner thinks we have the best roster in the NFL.
While the eagles middle linebackers haven’t played bad, they haven’t done anything extrodinary. I’m excited if trotter is going to b considered and upgrade
If we could remove Vick from the conversation I’m very pleased with the recent direction in drafting. I’ve always believed Philly drafts well but these last two years may be their first excellent drafts of this administration.
That said Maclin is a total pussy. You want to talk about tip-toe’ing around out there? I’m sure he’s talented but he acts like a child amongst men.

It’s Maclin’s third game. Give him a break. They all can’t be DeSean Jackson.
If he’s walking on his toes by game 16, fire away. But it takes more than a year for a typical WR to get into the West Coast Offense. If Maclin can contribute this year, he’s got talent.

Trotter an upgrade? He was washed up 2 years ago. Maclin is a draft bust and Stacy Andrews is a free agent bust. Nice job Iggles.

You have to be joking if you think the money we spent on Sean Jones and Mike Vick this year (about 3 Mil) would be enough to bring back Dawk who left for a HUGE 5-yr deal. You are just ignorant to think that, not to mention terrible at math.
Not sure what to make of Trotter yet. Can’t wait to find out tho.
blueridge: put down the corn squeezin’s. Macklin is anything but a bust to this point. And Andrews isn’t a bust, yet, either. Nice try though.
As for the tippy toes, well, let’s hope it’s just getting acclimated to pro speed! I trust that Trotter is just in that kind of shape to take over. He’s healthy and maybe that’s the difference.

IF you remember DJack did catch the ball all that much until midway thru the season. He averaged 3.5 catches a game. Hmmm Maclin is doing just about the same! Jackson will be better this year because he’s not a Rook. Maclin will get better if you Give him a chance

Wow. I wonder if Denver and the Eagles play a different styloe of defense and maybe that is what happened… To be a FS for the Eagles – you need to be able to cover man on man. And Dawkins is not able to do this anymore. He was good last season when they took him out as FS and made him a linebacker. Denver plays zone. Big difference.
Truly, as an Eagles fan, I hope I’m misinterpreting his body language.
I don’t doubt he will get better with experience but I’m really only trying to say he LOOKS like he’s playing with fear in his mind. It’s not a hesitation thing but a scared shitless thing.
And I’m not trying to say he’s a bust; it’s way too early in the season, much football left to play but perhaps he does grow a pair, and boy I’m all for it!
