Cotchery misses second straight practice Saturday

Jets starting wideout Jerricho Cotchery missed his second straight day of practice Saturday with a hamstring injury, making his status for Monday night’s game highly uncertain.

And as Mr. Florio pointed out earlier today, Cotchery’s potential absence is going to put a lot of pressure on Braylon Edwards to produce in his first game as a Jet, especially with Chansi Stuckey now in Cleveland.

Cotchery was listed as questionable on New York’s final injury report, as was starting right tackle Damien Woody.  Wayne Hunter will start if Woody isn’t able to go after missing practice Saturday.

The Jets will also be shorthanded again in the secondary: cornerback Donald Strickland is out, and Lito Sheppard is listed as doubtful with a quadricep injury.  Safety Kerry Rhodes is expected to play despite being listed as questionable.

For the Dolphins, Joey Porter is listed as questionable after a limited practice Saturday, but he’s expected to play.  The fact that Porter has been talking all week that the AFC East title still goes through Miami indicates he believes he’ll be ready to go.

And Porter is right to think that the Dolphins still have a chance to repeat.  A win over the Jets would make them 2-0 in the division heading into the bye, with plenty of time to climb out of their 0-3 hole to start the year.

As long as Sanchez throws to Keller and not Edwards on 3rd downs he’ll be alright.

Edwards and Dustin Keller should be able to pick up the slack.

Jets will go down to Miami and Crowder will beat the sh!t out of Ryan. Should be a fun night.

Hey Greg, they’re 1-3 and have a quarterback who hasn’t played a meaningfule season in the league. They’re toast. Biggest game in this division will be NY at NE and will probably decide who wins the division.

We’ll beat the sh!t out of the Jets and still have not won a “meaningfule” game all season. (Maybe you’re forgetting Sanchez hasn’t played full “meaningfule” season in this league either, dump truck) Jets are choking again this year, count on it.

I would throw to Edwards on 3rd down all day. 75% of his comps. are on 3rd down.

    What a memorable game.
Hey “Pastabelly” looks like “they’re” (nice english by the way) quarterback is now 2-0 and he still hasn’t won a meaningful game all season. The jets are pathetic.
