ESPN’s John Clayton reported Sunday morning that Eli Manning will play “as long as he can” against the Raiders, despite a plantar fascia injury.
Manning is active and starting.
David Carr is the backup. The Giants never did sign rookie Rhett Bomar from the practice squad, which made it all but certain that Eli would get the nod.
A run-heavy game plan is still likely from Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride.
The Giants’ inactive players are TE Kevin Boss, WR Ramses Barden, RB Danny Ware, CB Aaron Ross, LB Michael Boley, LB Bryan Kehl, OT Adam Koets, and DT Chris Canty.
Darcy Johnson will start for Boss, who has an ankle injury.
For the Raiders, injured RB Darren McFadden, third QB Charlie Frye, FB Oren O’Neal, RT Cornell Green, LG Robert Gallery, KR Nick Miller, WR Javon Walker, and WR Chaz Schilens are inactive.
Raiders TE Zach Miller (concussion) will start.
I will Easy E with a sore foot over the Raiders any day of the week
Jacobs to the left Jacobs to the right Jacobs up the middle
All day long
Or play as long as he needs to……..Two drives? Giants win 14-0.
They need to get the lead early and get him out of there. I’ve had plantar fascitis trouble and it’s a bitch. The less he plays against a team like the Raiders, the better.
I love the Raiders.. but it doesnt matter if its david carr or Eli…we are going to get killed. The giants defense can probably win this without their offense ever taking the field.

No offense, but I’m sure a professional quarterback and world-class training staff will be able to manage the injury a little better than you were able to…
And as of 14:40 in the 2nd he’s 7 of 9 for 164 and a TD. Sore foot Easy E’s ass!

No offense taken. My point is, rest is his biggest ally. Yes, his treatment is world class, but just not having to be on it is huge. Even with top notch training, it can linger.
