Report: Fire sale in the Black Hole

We pointed out Saturday that the early emergence of bad teams coupled with the desperation that some other franchises might be feeling could make for a more active eleventh-hour trading cycle.

One of the aforementioned bad teams is already trying to move some merchandise.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX, the Raiders have been calling around the league and generally offering anyone in which other franchises might be interested.

The only exceptions?  The “really young talented guys.”

(Um, do they have anyone that falls in that category?)

So don’t be surprised if a coach or a G.M. who wants to win now or risk not being able to use next year’s slate of draft picks explores the possibility of sending one or two of them to a team like Oakland, which seems to be willing to acknowledge reality and begin planning for 2010.

What guys would anybody want off this “team”? Davis will want too much for the putrid players and will not trade anybody. Davis should fire himself for “cause”

Shawne Merrimen and a 6th rnd pick for Richard Seymore to the Chargers.

Nnamdi Asomugha at CB isn’t young in his 7th season, the Atlanta Falcons should swing a trade and pick up that huge contract. Do the thing, Thomas Dimitroff!

If “planning for 2010″ means keeping Russell and Cable, why bother?

Come on Florio, ya buttlicker. Everyone knows the Raiders are only one or two players away from multiple Super Bowl championships, and Jamarcus Russell is going to shatter every QB record ever. You’re just jealous.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go reapply my silver and black makeup.

I have a JaMarcuss Russell jersey for free. Why did I waste my money!

It would be ironic if the Raiders end up trading Nnamdi Asomugha to the Patriots for their 1st round pick they gave to the Pats to get Seymour.

  8. CJCrazyLegs28 says: Oct 11, 2009 1:58 PM

You guys are insane if you think the Raiders will trade Asomugha.
Some possibilities? Justin Fargas, Kirk Morrison, Michael Huff

  9. RaiderChile says: Oct 11, 2009 2:00 PM

Let Nnamdi, Lechler, Seymour go and get something for them. No matter what Davis does, his plans goes to the way of the garbage heap. And while he’s at it, take Morrison, Howard, Kelly, Rout, Fargas and get them outta here too. Morrison and Howard are not good players. They would be special teamers on good teams

The Oakland Raiders are the only team that would ever consider building around a cornerback and a punter.

I for one wouldn’t mind if the Browns traded for Michael Bush. He fits the mold for a Jamal Lewis replacement perfectly.
He’s a big bruiser with some speed and has shown flashes of being an every down back.

    @TFBuckFutter
Mmmwwhahahahahahahaha. I think I want Al Davis around as long as possible. Just to see what happens next with this circus.

Merc, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Sooooo typical. Chris Johnson waits until he gets a big, juicy contract before he starts sucking nuts & getting TOASTED by rookie WRs. Giants 3rd teamers are kicking the living shite out of the Oakland 1st team defense.
Don’t even bother coming home & landing at Oakland Airport, children. Just keep going.
What!? Thugs from the ghetto want to rob a rich, 80 yr old white man??? Noooooooooo! That would never happen!!
It is what it is. Y’nomesayin’?

Florio, could you and you goons get these RACIST RACKER KLANSMEN off this site. I’m talking about MERC suggesting the Raiders African American players are from a plantation. Come on. Get that CRACKER outta here! KISS SUCKS JUST LIKE THE RAIDERS!!!

  17. Mike Florio says: Oct 11, 2009 4:35 PM

I’ve banned Merc and deleted his comment. We clear the comments by hand and scan them for obviously inappropriate terms. Sometimes we miss stuff. Thanks to those of you who pointed it out.

  18. jupe says: Oct 11, 2009 5:17 PM

yeah, more draft choices, that’s all the Raiders need to “turn this thing around.”

  19. RHG says: Oct 11, 2009 5:18 PM

And while were banning people for racism, ban that bigot for using the term “cracker” too or is there going to be a double standard here?

  20. Jim Naizeeum says: Oct 11, 2009 6:14 PM

Merc, you just took over 1st place in the biggest A-hole category.
Although, you may be getting some competition from RaiderChile, with his Cracker comments.
Going out on a limb here, but from your posts, I’d have to say you are both losers.

So Asomugha is in his seventh season. Big deal! At 25 and with his numbers, he could easily be considered a “young, talented player”.
I certainly hope Al wasn’t refering to Russell or Heywood-Jablome in that catagory of protected names. Those two guys are young and pathetic. The only way Heywood-Bey could keep a job in the NFL is if they bring back “Stick-Um”, and the only way Russell becomes viable is if you downgrade him to towelboy.
Anyone can throw a ball – it takes a quarterback to see the coverage, read the position of his recievers, detect pressure from the sides or behind, and make solid judgement calls in the span of 2-4 seconds. Russell can throw the ball a country mile, but it means nothing if no one can catch it. That, and it does nothing but hurt the team if he fumbles every single time he gets sacked because he can’t sense the pressure. Face it Al – you made a stupid decision on Russell, and you’ve made another one on Heywood Bey – Maclin is making stellar catches, and we have a 7th overall pick who doesn’t have 5 catches for the entire season.
I’m about as die hard as it comes, and even I am having a hard time watching the games this year. I mean, in years past, we lose by 3 points, by 7 points, MAYBE by 10 points, but it’s rare. This year, we lose by 20-30 points per game! It’s obscene.
