Seahawks destroy Jacksonville in Hasselbeck’s return

Mike Sims-Walker and Quentin Groves weren’t the only Jaguars to have rough weekends.

The Seahawks snapped their three-game losing streak with a ridiculous 41-0 trouncing of Jacksonville in Matt Hasselbeck’s return to the lineup.

After missing two games with a fractured rib, Hasselbeck threw four touchdown passes against a Jacksonville secondary that has been inconsistent this year, to put it nicely.

Nate Burleson is finally making that poison pill deal Seattle signed him to in 2006 look good; he caught six passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns. T.J. Houshmandzadeh chipped in with five receptions for 77 yards and two scores for his second straight strong game

The win was Seattle’s second shutout of the year after starting the season with a 28-0 victory over St. Louis.

The return of Hasselbeck (He’s 2-1 as a starter) and continued good play at home gives Seattle hope they can stay in contention this season in a tight NFC West. The Seahawks host the Cardinals in a crucial division game next week, and a win would put them at 3-3 heading into the bye.

Considering all of Seattle’s injuries thus far, that would be quite an accomplishment.
