Bengals-Ravens one-liners

WR Andre Caldwell caught the winning touchdown in the 17-14 Bengals victory, his second game-winning catch in the last three weeks.

Bengals QB Carson Palmer used his feet to good effect on Sunday, scrambling to find WR Chris Henry for a 73-yard touchdown pass and converting a fourth down on the final drive with a six-yard run.

Said Bengals S Chris Crocker of defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, “Guys would say otherwise, but that was our main focus, to win this for him.”

Bengals LS Brad St. Louis struggled again this week, which may mean a change is coming at the position.

Bengals CB Jonathan Joseph picked off his third pass in as many weeks, and had his second straight in the end zone.

Said Ravens LB Terrell Suggs, “We’ve got to play all-around better
football
, this one stinks. This one hurt. Not only that we lost, but how we lost. That’s
disgusting. That sucks. That stinks. That’s terrible.”

After two costly penalties on the winning Bengals drive, Ravens coach John Harbaugh refused to blame referees for the loss.

Ravens S Ed Reed had an interception return for a touchdown and also forced a fumble.

Only four of Ravens QB Joe Flacco’s 22 completions were to wide receivers

Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun thinks the loss revealed a fatal flaw for the Ravens at cornerback.

Everyone knew the Ravens were flawed at CB and it was obvious in how they schemed to help them which led to good runs by Benson, especially in passing situations.
Baltimore needs a shutdown corner to try to play the defensive scheme they’re using. Just look at Revis with the Jets and how well it’s working there.

Sure the refs weren’t responsible for this loss?

Living in Columbus I love that the Bungirls are doing well. Because now I actually have Cincy fans to say “talk to me when you win the division, or are the last AFC North team in the playoffs” to. Normally that is hard to do because you never see Cincy fans anywhere unless they are winning (which is rare). Steelers fans, oh yeah I see black and gold everyday. Browns fans, I don’t know a day has gone by without that little elf making an appearance in the OSU hosptials. Bengals fans, the past two weeks I’ve seen more of them than in the past three years. So I say to all of you that just pulled your Palmer jersey out of the mothballs and taped OchoCinco over the back of that old Johnson jersey, come talk to me when you win a playoff game.
(they do look good though, and was happy to see them win for the D coach.) They will not beat the Steelers or Ravens twice this year and will not see a playoff win.

Trust me chief, there are plenty of Bengals fans in Ohio. Tough to be a fan when you have sucked for 20 years and are in the same state as one of the best college football teams ever, but we are here and haven’t gone anywhere. As for Pittsburgh fans, it’s a big bandwagon, and Cleveland fans, they are brown because they don’t like to do laundry and the colors match dirty clothes. Leave Columbus once and awhile and you will see Bengals fans.

  5. copes cabana says: Oct 12, 2009 11:48 AM

It’s just sad that I don’t have to leave here to see the other two. And I love all the “Steelers are bandwagon fans” talk. You see Steelers fans all the time, doesn’t even have to be football season. The only reason it seems like you only see them when the team is good, is because the team is almost always good! they were out in full force in 03 and 06 and every other off year that I have ever seen. If Steelers fans are bandwagon fans, then that bandwagon has been running since ’72, year in and year out.
I actually got yelled at at the bar here Friday for wearing my Steelers superbowl hat by a large group of Bengals fans. They were yelling about hating bandwagon Steelers fans there. I said “I’m from Pittsburgh and go to many games.” they were like “Oh, then that’s cool. want to do a shot.” It must be rough to be from here an like the Steelers.

It makes me sick to read post like this from this puke Copes cabana. I mean come on man are you serious? You obviously know nothing about PRO football since you are sniffing around the OSU locker room looking for a dirty sweater vest.
Say what you want, what the Bengals’ have accomplished, you cannot help but be proud and at the very least impressed. I am a Bengals season ticket holder who flys in for the games and there are many more like me. Thick and thin its what its all about. The fanbase is small, but like its owner, very loyal.

  7. crex43 says: Oct 12, 2009 12:26 PM

Steelers fans aren’t bandwagon fans, but why should we hold Steelers fans up on a pedestal because they’re such good fans? Like it’s difficult to pledge allegiance to a team that wins all of the time. “Congratulations, you’re a Steelers fan you must be die hard to root for a winning team.” All this coming from someone in Columbus who is obviously an OSU fan. Of course it’s easy to be an OSU fan and say that – your fans only have to put up with two losses every year. One during the regular season, and one during whatever bowl game you’re in. We get it. It’s easy to root for a winning team.
Try sticking with a team that rarely has a winning season, and we’ll see how good of a fan you are. I’ve been a Bengals and Reds fan my entire life. I didn’t start rooting for the Steelers or the Indians because my teams never make it to the postseason.
Wait til the Bengals’ offense really starts clicking and we’ll see what you think about sweeping P-Burgh and the Ravens.

  8. GoBrowns19 says: Oct 12, 2009 12:34 PM

Bengal fans are not allowed to crow about anything. They disappear when their team sucks, then appear every few years when the team is good and tell everyone about it. The Browns are sad, but at least you hear us bitching and moaning 365 a year and we’re out there, letting everyone know who we root for…and that we suck. Bengal fans just root for UC or OSU and say they hate the NFL, until the Bengals are good, then they are die hards.

  9. copes cabana says: Oct 12, 2009 12:37 PM

Ha. I work at OSU hospital, not a college football fan. In fact I miss most of the games because I am at Heinz field. But good guess.
I actually am impressed with the Bengals this year. They have a lot of talent and Palmer has one of the nicest spirals in the game. I just don’t have much respect for their ability to come together and be a team. Things are great for them when they are winning, but the past few seasons when they are losing, or even close to losing, they are punching coaches and calling out teammates. I will give them respect when they survive adversity.
Good players can win games, But good TEAMS with good coaches win championships. The D coming together for their coach this past week is something that could make the unit cohesive and bring the team together, but I think Marvin Lewis is just not the coach we all expected him to be. And yes the fanbase is SMALL and like their owner, clueless and cheap.

I’m also a Pirates fan, so you don’t need to talk to me about rooting for a loser. haha It is easier to handle when you have two other championship teams.

  11. CurseofBoJackson says: Oct 12, 2009 1:06 PM

Copes Cabana, GOBrowns: GO F&*% yourselves, only idiots makie sweeping generalizarions about mass groups of people. This being no exception, for example, I watched the Bengals when all hopes were on Jeff Blake in 1996, I watched aqnd bled and yelled and screamed when our starting quarterback was Eric Wilhelm, when it was Gus Frerotte, Scott Mitchell, Akili Smith. So I don’t care, I will root for a winner, and as Shaunypoo points out, if you actually leave your second rate town and you might see some “real” Bengals fans.
I will concede that there are a “fair” number of “fairweather” fans in our midst, but dude, that comes with the territory, win and everybody wants to be a part of it. Also, if we’re such bandwogon fans, why ahve we sold out 44 straight games? Were we good last year? No, were we good in 07, kind of, and choked down the stretch, same with 06.
Bengals D is ridiculous, Ced is a beast, and there’s nothing anyone can say with any conviction or intelligence to dispute the quality of this team, unless they’re talking about Brad St. Louis.
Ray Lewis is a sore loser and a sad specimen of a man. GoBrowns, yea, GoBrowns, BAAAHAAAHAAA…. BWAAAHAAAHAAA!!!! Douche

  12. steelersbandwagon says: Oct 12, 2009 2:07 PM

typical steeler fans…always have to talk trash in bengal posts. I know, i would want to gloat over a close win against detroit too..lol

  13. shaunypoo says: Oct 12, 2009 2:08 PM

Bengals fans have had to put up with alot of shit for the last 20 years, especially rooting for a team that loses alot, so when are team does well and we are proud, we are told to put it back in your pants. Well tough shit. I haven’t seen many Steeler fans around here lately, but when they beat the Bengals, it seems like every other person is wearing a Steelers shirt.
They seems to have plenty of ability to come together and win as a team, as their 4-1 record will attest to, with every game being won in the last few minutes. Even the game they lost to the 5-0 Broncos was won in the last minute, till that tipped pass was taken in for a TD.
And Steeler fans are like their hometown, dirty and classless.

  14. copes cabana says: Oct 12, 2009 2:17 PM

    CurseofBo,
Copes Cabana is a mass group of people and we do not apriciate your sweeping generalization of us. ha
It is great to see some intensity back in Bengals fans. I hate all things Ohio (except my job, OSU hospitals are awesome), and it is never fun talking trash to a bunch of people that don’t care.
Is Cbus really considered second rate? I mean seriously all of Ohio sucks, but atleast Columbus has hot chicks.
I love the argument of “I rooted for us when we sucked (list all years without Boomer or 2005) or when we had the crappy quarterback (list all quarterbacks not named Boomer or Carson)” If you say you are a diehard bengals fan for more than two years of your life, we know you rooted for them when they sucked.

  15. copes cabana says: Oct 12, 2009 2:29 PM

Pittsburgh is actually clean, green, and very polite. It’s why we got the G20.
    Shaunypoo,
“but when they beat the Bengals, it seems like every other person is wearing a Steelers shirt.”
Seen a lot of Steelers shirts in your day, huh?
    hahaha
I actually think you should be talking trash. It’s one of the best parts of being a football fan (the other is winning superbowls, but since your from Cincy let’s not get the cart to far in front of the horse). It’s also why I have an account to post here. Rivalries and trash talking are fun and make it what it is. Unless you are a pats, ravens or cowgirl fan, in which case I really do hate you.
    GO STEELERS!!
See you NOV 15th in the burgh.

  16. CurseofBoJackson says: Oct 12, 2009 2:58 PM

    Still no intelligent rebuttals:
Cope, Bengals were good for four total years (88, 89, 90, 2005) during my football watching life, so the two year comment is incorrect.
At least Columbus has hot chicks? Really? That’s your response? Every major (and minor) metropolitan city has hot chicks Cope, is your experience with women that bad? Or are you referring to College students? Same standard applies here, Every major(and most minor) Universities have attractive women.
Poor show man, poor show. Still the same Sh*t, See ya 11/15. Yea, haven’t seen that one fifty thousand times on this site alone.

  17. shaunypoo says: Oct 12, 2009 3:00 PM

Unfortunately, I have seen alot of Steeler shirts. I have also seen alot of Patriot shirts, but I think that they share bandwagon fans.
And the Steelers are the best… at doing roids (4 Superbowls) and getting the calls (2 Superbowls). We have been to two Superbowls, which is more than alot of teams can say, and while we lost, it was to some pretty good 49er teams. Unfortunately, that was before I lived here, so I don’t know what it is like to be a Bengal fan and know what success feels like.
I did live in DC when the Skins won 3 Superbowls, but I was pretty young and not much of a football fan then. It was a nice experience, but they are more my dads team.
    And Ken Anderson was good.

  18. copes cabana says: Oct 12, 2009 3:50 PM

    CurseofBo,
“no intelligent rebuttals” This is profootballtalk man, intelligent comments have no place here!!!! Four out of the past 20 years is not much better than 2. And yes I am saying the only good thing about Ohio is that OSU has a disproportionate amount of hot women.
    Shaunnypoo,
I did forget Anderson, and he is our quarterback coach. If you know any bandwagon fans rooting for the Steelers and Pats please send me their addresses so that I can personally go and kick them in the face. Anyone who would root for the Pats is not a Steelers fan.

  19. steelersbandwagon says: Oct 12, 2009 8:02 PM

It’s funny that all the steelers fans around here are ohio state fans aswell. i wonder why they aren’t PITT fans? lol

  20. shaunypoo says: Oct 13, 2009 7:15 AM

    Copes,
I try not to associate with bandwagon fans. One of my neighbors is a Steeler fan, but knows how to hold an intelligent conversations, and so far, he is the exception. Every other Steeler fan I talk to just cannot hold it together. It can start out civil, but once you criticize the Steelers about anything all I hear is “Oh yeah, well, we have 6 rings.” Once I hear that, I realize that no real dialogue is going to occur. I will stick up for the Bengals all day, but if I can’t honestly assess my own team, I realize it won’t be an intelligent conversation, and will degenerate like most conversations I have with Steeler fans. Do I look forward to the next game with the Steelers, of course I do, I feel like we can be competitive. Am I coronating the Bengals, not after 5 games, but it does feel good to be doing well. They still make my butt pucker with two minutes to go in the game, and I would prefer that they quit doing that.
    Copes, please don’t be a Steeler-tard, and I promise I won’t be a Bengal-tard.

  21. maxtastic says: Oct 13, 2009 8:54 AM

    @ Cincy Fans…
Hell of a win your team pulled out…not sad to see the Bengals win that one. Btw….Lewis’s hit on Ocho was part of his intensity…not a flagrant foul.
