When you catch ten passes, gain 250 yards, and score twice in a single game, people tend to take notice.
That's why Cowboys receiver Miles Austin is on Sportscenter Monday night, why he's going to be picked up in all fantasy leagues, and why the Cowboys will find a way to play him more often going forward.
(Imagine if Austin didn't drop two touchdowns, and miss another scoring chance against Kansas City.)
Cowboys coach Wade Phillips wouldn't use the word "starter" when discussing Austin Monday, but he said Austin will see just as much playing time in Dallas' next game as he did against the Chiefs. When he started. And played almost every snap.
"He did the things we thought he could," Phillips said. "You're not
going to make 250 yards every time, but he's going to have a chance to
make big plays again."
Austin brings an element of speed to a wide receiver group that is sorely lacking it, even when Roy Williams is healthy.
Williams has gained 412 receiving yards in 14 games since Jerry Jones acquired him before the trading deadline in 2008.
Cowboys will use Austin more

Now Dallas just has to hope very team they play tackles as bad as KC.
First smart decision Wade has made...
The guy has one game against arguably the worst secondary in the league and ESPN brings him right over? Here's hoping he gets drunk on the attention and becomes the next Dallas diva when he can't repeat the performance.
"Cowboys coach Wade Phillips wouldn't use the word "starter" when discussing Austin Monday"
Why would he? He doesn't know that many multi-syllable words. He thinks his own name is Wade Fill Lips.
The Chiefs Maurice Leggett tackles like he should be playing in the " Lingerie League " ! Austin had 3 catches for 19 yards with a long of 11 yards against Denver last week! And, if he " did the things we thought he could ", Wade, why hasn't he been starting? Idiot!!!!
COWBOYS=OVERATED
miles austin, roy williams, and jason witten.....that's a lot of firepower. you guys forget miles austin had a great game against the cardinals before too. he's a star in the making...when roy williams gets back...that trio is one of the best in the nfl at catching footballs. if romo can keep being clutch with the game on the line like he did this week.....watch out, because it's a ring for big D!
"(Imagine if Austin didn't drop two touchdowns, and miss another scoring chance against Kansas City.)"
I imagine he wouldn't have had the long touchdown in OT.
"The guy has one game against arguably the worst secondary in the league and ESPN brings him right over?"
Of course. He's a Dallas Cowboy, isn't he?
"First smart decision Wade has made..."
No, that would be getting rid of Brian Stewart.
Why? He wont catch anyone by surprise from here on out. Coaches are soooooooo stupid! He beat the Chiefs, big deal.
"Austin had 3 catches for 19 yards with a long of 11 yards against Denver last week!"
And he also caused an interception by cutting inside when he should have cut outside. That's the major knock on him, mental lapses.
"mental lapses."
Kinda the same knock on Eagirls fans, by the way.
Don't hate on Roy Williams. If he wasn't over there, Austin wouldn't have pulled that off. Not to say he isn't a great talent. I have no idea. The fact is if they put two on Austin they will have to remove the double team from Williams or Witten. It really is pick your poison. The fact is that if Romo is on his game and the defense shows up then things go well. Otherwise if Romo is his real self, nobody is catching anything; at least not any Cowboys.
Disclaimer: I am not nor have I ever been a Cowboys fan or a Cowboys hater. I only have passion towards the AFC.
"I imagine he wouldn't have had the long touchdown in OT."
That's actually a good point. He wouldn't have had such a big day if he's caught either of the two that clanged off his hands in the end zone early in the game.
Will Austin go for 250/2 every start? No, but what WR does?
Will this be a big boost to Austin's confidence? I sure hope so.
It's one game, and all Dallas fans/players/coaches know this. But everyone has to start somewhere and this was a pretty good first start.
Out of all this I'm hoping that Crayton is shown the door. Tired of that diva running his mouth then fumbling punts, getting 5 yards on the ones he hangs onto, and only catches balls when it is meaningless.

LOL! that is the funniest 4 letter replacement word for fecal matter i've ever heard in my life. Dallas almost lost to Kansas City.... KANSAS CITY! AHAHAHAHAhaha. Roy Williams is a bum, Tony Romo doesn't take football serious, and Miles Austin is a one hit wonder. a ring..... A RING, Dallas might be bottom feeding that division this year... I could see Washington beating Dalls this year yet.
They also need to see if they can use Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin more. Even Gary Hogeboom.
And try to use Tony "The Va Jay Jay" Romo less.
More action- that's what Jessica said to Romo right before he dumped her.
I watched the game, they were terrible. Romo is putting up good fantasy stats against the 30 or 31, 32 team in the league.
"(Imagine if Austin didn't drop two touchdowns, and miss another scoring chance against Kansas City.)"
As a Cowboys fan, I'd like to imagine Austin not dropping balls all the time, but he does. He's big and fast and strong, but has questionable hands. That's why he's not starting and why most people had never heard of him until yesterday. And, really, all he did was capitalize on some very shoddy tackling yesterday. The guy's potentially pretty good, but let's everybody settle down in calling him the savior of the Cowboys passing game.
Now put Jesse Holley on the other side and you have a good receiving tandem.
as you can see i'm a g-men fan .... and i admit
witten is probably the best tight end in the game ..... if romo can stay consistant with his passes the run game will start clicking ..... (vox i won't swear to this in court lol) but its still way to early to count dallas out
thats going to be one hell of a good wild card game that dallas plays against new orleans .... then maybe ..... just maybe we will let dallas come to our house for their third beating of the season .......
chill vox i'm just pounding your stones .....
again i'll tell you ..... good luck the rest of the way, i'm looking forward to good divisional football

Yes it was the chiefs, but the cowboys have played bad teams before over the past 20 years and still no one has toped 250 yards in a single game for them.
Either way to slice it, it was a good game for Austin.
But for most of you who are not fans, you have not seen many of Austin's other plays. He has quite the highlight reel over the past 4 years and MANY in Dallas have wondered for years why he has not had more opportunities.
Time will tell, but I bet Austin goes over 1200 yards this year.
as you can see i'm a g-men fan .... and i admit

So true. Remember, Dallas only two losses have been to undefeated teams. ON TOP of that, we lost those games not because the DEFENSE got beat, but because the OFFENSE made SILLY turnovers giving Denver AND the Giants DIRECT scores AND redzone opportunities. I say silly because they were not DEFENSE caused turnover, just mental lapses.
The good news for Dallas is that all and all the running defense is excellent AND the secondary is much improved. If we can get the offense to stop turning over the ball, if Austin can draw attention and free up plays for Roy and Witten, if Garret starts running the ball in the red zone more often, Dallas CAN beat any team.
Now WILL they do these things? Who knows....
