Raiders-Giants one-liners

Gary Peterson of the Oakland Tribune writes that it's never been so bleak for the Raiders than it is in the wake of their 44-7 loss to the Giants.

When the Giants went up 28-0, the Raiders had run 12 offensive plays for 13 net yards.

Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell's 85.4 passer rating was his best of the season.

Russell was sacked six times behind a porous offensive line, and fumbled the ball away three times.

Said Raiders coach Tom Cable, "I'm concerned for this football team."

Four offensive drives and four touchdowns added up to a short but sweet effort for Giants QB Eli Manning.

Giants DE Justin Tuck forced one fumble and recovered another as part of the team's defensive onslaught.

Said Giants DE Mathias Kiwanuka, "When we start swarming, it's a great feeling, coming off the field, laughing and jawing about who got the sack."

With RB Ahmad Bradshaw outgaining RB Brandon Jacobs despite fewer carries, is it time for a change in the Giants backfield?

Giants QB David Carr ran for a 12-yard touchdown, his first rushing score since 2006.

Gary Peterson's column was fantastic. Nothing like good news to brighten a Monday.
No matter how pitiful they become, how laughable a franchise and its fans can get, it never gets old.

florio, you like to make disparaging remarks about tom coughlin but look at what he and his coaching staff have accomplished.there might be other staffs out there who are equal but damn, you're not going to find better.
coughlin is the perfect coach for the giants.and, one other thing,he's the perfect guy for the new york media.

coughlin must be of a different political persuasion than mikey.

and al davis must be of the same political persuasion as mikey.

also interesting to hear that al sharpton, of "tawana brawley rape hoax" fame, is out there criticizing the notion that rush limbaugh would buy any part of an nfl team. even if he is a silent partner.

isnt brandon jacobs going to quit?

No, Jacobs beats the defense up and then Bradshaw beats them down! It's called teamwork.
