Portis addresses Sellers dust up

Redskins running back Clinton Portis, who finds himself in the middle of a controversy roughly twice per year, addressed on Tuesday his most recent brouhaha, involving fullback Mike Sellers.

“Man, I think it was a minor situation that was blown out of
proportion
,” Portis said on ESPN 980’s The John Thompson Show.  “I think me and Mike handled that, and I
thought it was between me and him.  You know, there was only two other
people in the locker room when it happened, so how it got out to the
media.  I mean, it’s exchanging words.  You know, when you work with
somebody year round, every day, you know, Mike always feel like that
big brother-little brother role.

“I think Mike being an older cat and a
veteran cat, Mike always want the big brother role, and sometimes
little brother and big brother not gonna co-exist,” Portis said.  “But you know, we
exchanged our words and it was done with, and all the sudden the media
got a hold of it.  So we discussed it, and we fine.”

In other words, something went down and since the team isn’t going to be trading or cutting either one of them in the near future, they had to work it out.

But the reality is that, as the team continues to struggle, it can bubble up again at any moment.  Without warning.

Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post has the Portis quote and nuggets from others regarding the Portis-Sellers situation.  Steinberg also has separate words from Portis that make us think of Allen Iverson ranting about practice.  (Click that link, by the way — it’s one of the best sports sound bite mash-ups we’ve ever seen.  And feel free to dance, if the mood should strike you.)

Yes Clinton, that’s it. He is jealous. Thank you for proving you are a waste of the rest of society’s precious air, once again.

How the hell do you know? Seriously…Mike Florio Werder

Great ASSumption Florio…how is Big Albert’s torn achilles doing by the way?

  4. Either way you look at it Portis is performing worse than any other year he’s been in the pros.

  5. In other words, Sellers told Portis to apologize privately and shut the **** up, and Portis wisely agreed to the plan.

  6. “How the hell do you know? Seriously…Mike Florio Werder”
Florio was a failed psychologist before he was a failed lawyer.

  7. They really need to make a move if they are going to take the Lombardi for Florio this year.
Seems awfully cocky to give everybody else such a big headstart.
    They must really be confident.

  8. I dont see why all the hate on Portis. Im with Portis on this one. The o-line cant block worth crap. Sellers sucks-the dude was going by people he should be blocking-whats up with that? You all may think he is worn out, cant get that explosive play/run in-kinda hard to make that explosion when no one can block, no one can make that opening for him to run through. And just maybe if they stop running all plays to the freaking left, change it up, confuse the defense to where they dont know which way he is gonna run. Oh look they are gonna do a run play to the left. The opposite team is always prepared cuz everyone always knows oh the Skins are running to the left. Change it up. They need to draft better O line men!!!!
