Redskins shopping Anthony Montgomery

Redskins defensive tackle Anthony Montgomery was displaced in the starting lineup by Albert Haynesworth this offseason, and now might be sent right off the roster.

A league source tells PFT’s Mike Florio that Montgomery is being shopped in advance of next week’s trading deadline.

A starter for 21 games between 2007-2008, Montgomery has not been active this season.

The decision to shop Montgomery comes after the team found out that Philip Daniels will play through a torn biceps, and the team re-signed Renaldo Wynn Monday.

It takes the decimation of the o-line to make such a ‘bold’ move? Redskins may be a joke on the field, but behind the scenes it’s clearly worse.
Football’s circus of the stupid rambles on…….

Al Davis will probably give them a 1st round pick!

Not sure how useful daniels will be with a torn bicep being a DE and all but I’m pretty sure this was going to be his last season so he wants to make the most of it. Any team that wants montgomery he is a solid run stuffing DT so throwing a 7th out for him would not be a bad deal at all.

Oh please, for the love of the football gods, get a fricken draft pick or offensive lineman for this solid DT. Maybe both!!! But knowing the skins, they will grab another running back (5 on the current roster) or defensive player (dont need any, hence why montgomery is being shopped). I can’t wait to see the end of this debacle of a trade…

Sounds like Montgomery is going to be shopping for houses in Massachusetts very soon….. Because NE is the master of “taking washed up/no longer needed” players off of the hands of bone head franchises (Corey Dillon, Randy Moss, Mike Vrabel, Bryan Cox, Ted Washington……)

Do the Redskins seriously think someone is going to cough up a draft pick for a guy they all know the Deadskins are going to release???
Redskins management lives in a self-delusional world all their own. Imagining that another team is salivating to give them players or draft picks for a guy who can’t even start for them is the height of arrogance.

Hopefully the Lions will jump all over this. Injuries at the DT position have put them in a bad spot…when your starters are backups, then the backups are HORRIBLE…

I bet the Lions trade him for Jon Jansen.

Bill in DC – its not arrogance, its cluelessness.

A solid run stuffing DT, replaced by a fat guy, 50 times the salary, adept at lying on the ground exhausted.
ROTFL, what an inept bunch of dopes. The road to Miami continues right Florio!
    HAIL!
