Austin heads NFC honorees this week

Roy Williams’ injury and the Kansas City Chiefs’ bad tackling allowed Cowboys wideout Miles Austin to win his first career NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.

Austin capped his 10-catch, 250-yard day with the second of his two touchdowns -- a 60-yard catch-and-run in overtime. That play helped Dallas avert what would have been a crushing upset against the winless Chiefs.

Cardinals corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week thanks to his 49-yard, game-winning interception return for a touchdown against the Texans.

Panthers punter Jason Baker was the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week because he averaged 44.8 yards on four punts and dropped two inside the 20. Hey, it’s not his fault he wins in a quiet week for special teamers in the NFC.
