The Vikes have always played a bend, but don’t break style of defense. The corners play ten yards off and sit there and stare at receivers as they catch it rather than playing the ball like most top-flight defenses do. The positive is that they clamp down in the Red Zone and don’t allow many points.
Part of the yardage problem is that the Williams Wall has been practically invisible so far this year. People are running right through them. That rushing break-down defensively has put pressure on the secondary to assist against the run with Griffin and Winfield. That’s taking their focus away from defending the pass which leaves them vulnerable.
