Browns have no plans to trade Cribbs

Earlier today, the Dolphins were mentioned as a team potentially interested in Browns receiver/kick returner Josh Cribbs.

The Dolphins apparently aren't the only ones.

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network, several teams have been calling the Browns about Cribbs:  the Dolphins, Colts, Chiefs, Raiders, Jaguars, and 49ers.

But we're told that the Browns aren't interested in trading Cribbs in advance of the October 20 deadline, due in large part to one of the things that makes him attractive -- a grossly below-market contract that applies through 2012.

Then again, whoever inherits Cribbs also gets his discontent regarding his contract.

Apparently, teams are willing to take their chances.

Even more apparently, the Browns are one of those teams.

Hopefully the Raida's can trade for him...I think he can QB a little...which is probably better than DumMarcus Russell back there...he drops back..looks left...looks right...either chucks it down field for a pick or gets sacked!!

The Browns, Chiefs, Bucs, and whoever else is winless...be allowed to trade freely amongst themselves and then set off on a 4 game mid-season preseason againts the Tuskers or the Locos or the UFL team in Alaska....and then allow them to play in the NFL...the Raida's should also be thrown in there...they have a win but they should be winless...although they would give a good AFL2 team a run for their money!!!

The browns have no plan period.

    BigEasy:

You are a dipshit! The Browns have one win, they shouldn't but they do. Do some research before posting next time.

Good. Cleveland needs Cribbs. Hopefully they get his contract issues worked out soon. Would like to see him involved in the offense a few more plays a game because he is so explosive he can put points on the board. Go Browns!

The Browns should trade both Cribbs and Quinn, since they have no clue how to maximize the potential of either.

This is more liberal drivel ... who was the source in the first place ... Al Sharpton ???

    Ears and eyes open Florio.

New England working on deal involving Steven Jackson.

Raiders should offer Tommy Kelly, our grossly paid underachiever who's been "producing" lately, for some unknown reason. He was a Rob Ryan fave. Then, we could re-up Cribbs to make him happy(er) for making millions just to return kicks and not much else.

Doubt the Browns do any more trades this season, considering their stellar record thus far in the Mangenius era.

Damn, I knew my Raiders should've gotten into the Braylon Edwards bidding; the Jets got themselves a franchise receiver on the cheap! The Jets GM deserves to be executive of the year for the moves that have been made in the past year.

    @twinkletoes

wait and see about braylon. he was a good performer during monday night games for the browns too. i'd like to see some sunday afternoon games vs. mid major teams to see if his 1 game where he actually caught a pass that touched his hands will continue.

honestly i hope he has some success in new york but i wouldnt be shocked at all if he starts dropping passes again by the end of the year.

The browns need to pay Cribbs. He is one of the good guys and hustles no matter how many points the team is down.

First of all daffy..nice to see a Browns fan on the boards with enthusiasm such as I, I've seen you on nfl.com and I
like your style, second of all DPR while I agree with you that Josh's potential isn't maximized, I'm going to have to call
you out on Brady's potential...While I don't think he got the fairest shake and basically only had a cup of coffee while
starting, I do think that we've seen what this kid is all about thus far, he is absolutely scared to death to throw into any
kind of coverage, save for one or two plays he kept alive with his feet and had a positive gainer on a third down he's done
nothing to show me or any of us Browns fans that he can put the ball where his receiver is going to be, because that's
what it's all about in the NFL...He in all actuality is Captain Checkdown for this team, and in this system he has reached his
ceiling and for his sake I hope he does get traded and goes on to have a nice career, because it will not happen here, Eric
has no faith in this kid and to be honest I don't blame him a bit...say what you want about Derek's 2 completion performance
but you weren't watching the game like I was, the wind was sick and our lackluster wideouts were dropping mad balls...IE check
a replay of Eric Wright's pass interference call if you can, it was an easy pick six however the wind pushed the ball off the
receiver and E was forced to make a play on the player rather than the ball it was 3 feet off target from Trent Edwards thanks
to the wind...Twinkletoes, you wanted Braylon? With who to throw to him? So you can have another overpaid diva on your team
to catch maybe one or two balls from Jamarcus? Can I remind you of Javon Walker who got a 55 million dollar deal and can't
even see the field? Your only chance of being happy as a Raiders fan is if Al Davis takes a dirtnap very soon, sorry to say...
I'd much rather be a Browns fan than a Raiders fan at this point...

The only reason the Browns beat the Bills was because Cribbs. He downed every one of those punts! He is the man and deserves to go to the Colts so he can win...and Im a Browns fan

  13. JohnC says: October 16, 2009 12:08 AM

Cribbs is too popular here. I really don't see him leaving. He deserves a new contract from the Browns.

  14. daffy87 says: October 16, 2009 12:32 AM

Eric Mangini has basically come in and hit the reset button in Cleveland. Only a hand full of players are secure in not being traded. Shaun Rogers, D'Qwell Jackson, Eric Wright, Joe Thomas, Eric Steinbach, & Josh Cribbs are those guys. Outside of that list of players, anyone is elligible to be gotten rid of.

foreverdolphan you idiot, the Falcons played a Super Bowl at home. Go kill yourself.

  16. Foreverdolpfan says: October 16, 2009 4:37 AM

What a disappointment. I sure was looking forward to having Cribbs play for the Dolphins. Who knows, maybe there still is something brewing behind the scenes.

Pure raise the trade value double talk.

  18. Browns_fan_in_therapy says: October 16, 2009 7:08 AM

Hey Browns - try something new. Pay the man who is the biggest "difference maker" on your team (since you got rid of Winslow and Edwards)... or just trade him for nothing and go tell everyone how bad of a locker room guy he was. That's always easier than coaching and managing strong personalities who have talent.

  19. TheDPR says: October 16, 2009 10:01 AM

Look at how Devin Hester has turned into a real NFL WR. That could be Josh Cribbs, too, if there was any kind of leadership in Cleveland.

  20. rockotica says: October 16, 2009 10:20 AM

the uniforms the browns wore against buff are seriously the best in the league. 2nd best are the lions home ones.

  21. HATERADE says: October 16, 2009 11:11 AM

PLEASE, trade him to a worthy team. he doesn't need to be on that team of scrubs!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Bernie is the Browns says: October 16, 2009 11:55 AM

If the Browns trade Cribbs it would be the smartest thing they have done this year, if they can get a good deal. Cribbs potential will never be fully realized with the Browns, plus he is too stupid to be a reciever in the NFL. Trade him to the Dolphins so he can run the wildcat.
