Percy Harvin back on practice field

Vikings rookie slot receiver/returner Percy Harvin missed Wednesday’s practice with a shoulder injury, but was back on the field for Thursday’s workout.

Coach Brad Childress characterized Harvin’s Thursday participation as “semi limited.”
“Hopefully, he takes another step tomorrow,” Childress added.
The 5-0 Vikings’ wins have come against the 1-4 Browns, 1-4 Lions, 3-2 49ers, 2-2 Packers, and 0-5 Rams.  Week Six’s matchup with Baltimore is arguably their toughest yet, so they’ll need Harvin on the field.
The former Florida Gator is on pace to catch 58 passes for 746 yards, and score 10 all-purpose touchdowns.

Just out of curiosity, how many times have you characterized the Saints, Giants, or Bronco’s opponents records?
You guys said that SF was going to be the Vikings toughest challenge, then after we beat them, you said it would be GB, then you said the Vikings were set up to fail against the Rams. Now you have to say its Baltimore. So when the Vikings beat the Ravens, will you then say its the Steelers next week? Or maybe after we beat them, you will say its a team that we already beat this year, GB?
Fact of the matter is, you guys love to hate on the Vikings and now you have to pull shit out of your ass to bash them. They are a different team now, a better team, when are you haters going to start showing them the respect they deserve?

Kid’s a beast. We’ll really need him against the Ravens because the best way to beat their defense right now is through the air. They have too much to lose right now to just grind them out. The Vikings will need to hit some big plays to beat them plain and simple.
What a great game though. Two of the most physical and purplest teams in the league.

The Percy Harvin (story of an NFL bust) continues:
    1) 02/22/2009 – Arrives at the NFL combine on drugs with full knowledge and prior warning he would be tested for drug abuse. Tests positive for marijuanna. Placed in NFL’s substance abuse program. The NFL is now spending extra resources monitoring the player.
    2) 5/1/2009 – missed rookie practice do to severe dehydration, cause unknown, called in sick.
    3) 06/29/2009 – Arrives at the NFL required rookie symposium and then tells medical personnel he is too ill to participate and is sent home.
    4) 06/30/09 – Harvin ordered to attend the 2010 rookie symposium. Like the kid that flunked first grade Percy has to attend next year.
    5) 07/31/09 – Harvin fails to report to Training Camp on time.
    6) 08/04/09 – Harvin’s contract with the Vikings is disapproved by the NFL for rules violations.
    7) 08/14/09 – Harvin is “hurt” (shoulder) and misses his first game, the preseason opener.
    8) 09/24/09 – Harvin misses practices again with a mystery illness that the vikings refuse to discuss. No one will say if the illness coincides with the scheduled extra drug testing he is required to undergo due to his prior failed test.
    9) 10/14/09 – Harvin misses practice again. Speculation is a shoulder injury but no one really knows for sure.
I wonder how these absences coincide with the arrival of the Drug Testing Crew from the NFL for the close monitoring of this substance abuser.

The ‘49ers looked OK against the Vikings. The other four teams will be battling for the #1 spot in next year’s draft.
Now that the extended pre-season is over the Vikings are more than ready for some real competition.

  7. PervyHarvin says: Oct 15, 2009 6:40 PM

Now for breaking news……Percy Harvin and Balloon Boy have been found and are safe!

  8. bovice23 says: Oct 15, 2009 7:31 PM

You dont hesitate to call out the vikings for their wins over the browns, lions, 49ers, packers and rams (combined 7 wins with one team being winless) but not once have I read anything in relation to the Giant’s wins coming against the redskins, cowboys, bucs, chiefs and raiders (combined 5 wins with 3 teams being winless). Could someone please explain to me why that is?

  9. JimmySmith says: Oct 15, 2009 7:40 PM

Maybe Percy scored some mean weed from Randy Moss’s ex-supplier and in a blue cloud of smoke and haze, he jammed up his shoulder showing his friends how he intends to raise the Lombardi Trophy (for the newer Viking fans, he was a former head coach of the Green Bay Packers and the Superbowl trophy is named in his honor)
Percy’s been reading the blogs and the Viking fans (not the brighest to begin with) are not only proclaiming this year’s Superbowl but back to back championships. I think they’ve gotten a hold of the same weed as our model citizen, Percy.

I love how the packers are being used to show how weak the vikings schedule is!!! That is right, we have played some real CRAP teams, including the Pack!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  11. Contra says: Oct 15, 2009 7:43 PM

Hey Bob Nelson – Ive seen your post elsewhere but do you mean to tell me you seriously did some research on Percy Harvin so that you could come onto a sports blog site and post an anti Harvin/Vikings comment? Are you seriously kidding me!? You went through all that trouble for THAT!? GET A LIFE! This proves you are a 39 year old virgin living in the basement of his grandmothers house. WOW KID!

  12. CutlerISaPussy says: Oct 15, 2009 7:45 PM

Typical unoriginal Packer fan there Bob. Just got to every viking thread and just keep reposting the SAME thing. Typical Loser Packer Fan….LMAO!!!! Hey, how can we blame them though. They have a tought enough time coming up with just one thought. Coming up with 2 thoughts would be impossible for those brain dead losers!!!!! Too funny.

  13. CutlerISaPussy says: Oct 15, 2009 7:48 PM

I am starting to wonder if Bob Nelson is actually the ultimate Vikings fan. See, he wants to make Packers fans look like complete idiots by posting these moronic things knowing everyone will think he represents the typical retarded Packer fan. Briliant. Keep up the good work Bob! SKOL VIKINGS.

Hey, It must be BeerCheeseCraps day to pick up his check from the uneployment line b/c I haven’t seen a single post from him on a vikings thread this evening. We all know he wasn’t working at a real job b/c he is he claims to be a NFL anlayst. Only, he is just doing an intern for PFT by posting on Vikings threads all day long. Oh yeah, and he does it from home…and nobody from PFT knows he is interning either.
Hey BeerCheeseCrap, give us some insight on this please. I can feeel the job offers rolling right in!!!!

  15. CanadianVikingFan says: Oct 15, 2009 8:07 PM

I come to the Minnesota Vikings section of PFT to read about the Vikings and what the fans have to say. Instead I find retarded Packer Fans flooding every single story. It makes me wonder if they have any in their section.

  16. kingart27 says: Oct 15, 2009 8:14 PM

Seriously Bob Nelson…Contra had it right. i have no idea if all those dates are right but if they are you have waaaaayyyyy too much time on your hands and if not your just a liar and no one likes liars. Just get over the fact that the vikes not only have AD but the next steve smith type in Percy. Mmmmm shower me with your envy.

  17. rolltide says: Oct 15, 2009 8:16 PM

Bob Nelson seems to have left out lots of catches and touchdowns and second in the league in return yardage. Sometimes production on the filed seriously gets in the way of PFT commentator’s constant quest to trash every player in the NFL.

_______________________________________________when you win a playoff game…..granted other undefeated teams have weak schedules too, but you had to win by a lucky throw to beat the niners and the rams and packers racked up about 10,000 yards on you guys. other teams are not only beating their opponents, they are treating them like HS teams. Balt isnt all that, hate to break it to you, they are a 500 team with an old defense at best.

    @BobNelson
The B.J. Raji( story of the REAL NFL bust)continues:
1)Date unknown- Raji is cleared of his failed combine drug test because he learned superior masking techniques at Boston College.
    2) Date unknown-John Morgan calls Raji the #1 Stump of the combine because of his comically short(32″) arms for a big man.
3)Date unknown- Ted Thompson chooses Raji to be the ultimate run stopper in Capers kick ass defense.
    4) present- Raji has 4 tackles and is surely on his way to being the real 1st round bust.
    5) Feb. 2010- Raji retires and devotes his fat ass to breaking Joey Chestnut’s hot dog eating record.

I kinda figured that he was named brett, or had named his kid brett, but your theory makes much more sense. In fact All viking fans should listen to what you’ve said and appreciate the years of service bob has put in to make packer fans appear to be as stupid as they are.

    jkorn,
The 9ers game was a solid game by both sides that the Vikings won. Neither side was lucky or unlucky. Just has to be a winner and loser.
Every other team the Vikings beat relatively easily. We hear this “oh just wait until this week when you play team X” crap all season. You naysayers are 0-5 now. We’re 5-0. Yet in general it is idiots like you doing all the “smack talk”.

  24. DCViking says: Oct 15, 2009 9:05 PM

I just hope we can another 1st round bust next year who scores 3 TDs in his first fives games. And hopefully, the Pack will keep drafting DTs like Harrell and Raji…
Oh, BTW, we can only beat the teams we’ve played…this week will be our toughest challenge yet, no doubt.
But, since we probably weren’t going 16-0 anyway, losing isn’t the end of the road either like many Packers would like to believe.

    Bob and Jimmy:
Ok you two, time to quit toching dinks and get ready for bed, it’s a school night.
Seriously, I’m going to try not and even respond to these two morons, it’s the same horsecrap everytime.
Jkorn: Nice of you to chime in, and not let anyone know who your team is……kinda makes it easy to tear down someone elses, doesn’t it?
You are even more pathetic than Bob and Jimmy, at least they stand up for their stupidity.
let me guess, your team has extremely disappointed you so far, so you have to rip on the Vikes. Some team, like say……
Cowboys, Titans, Patriots, Panthers, Steelers, Chargers.
    If you’d care to evaluate:
    Vikess went 6-10, 8-8, 10-6 –playoff loss.
It’s a natural progression, this year, they need to take the next step. They will.
Go peddle your bs somewhere else, or at least be man enough to declare your team.
You won’t, it’s easier being a pussy like you are being right now.

  26. sand0 says: Oct 15, 2009 9:53 PM

jkorn is clearly a packers fan. Those are the only people that post in these Vikings threads. Well, that and Vikings fans responding to their dum azzes.

    Chickenshit says:
“It’s a natural progression, this year, they need to take the next step. They will”
Ah, be careful there Chickenshit. What happens if they don’t? Time to call for the bald head of Col Klink? Get a new QB? (an annual event in MN, by the time you figure that out, they will be the LA Vikings)
I love your confidence, its your rationale that is suspect. Just because they made the playoffs last year doesn’t automatically translate into a playoff win this year. Remember, this the Vikings we are talking about, the biggest playoff choke team in the history of the NFL.

  31. purpleguy says: Oct 16, 2009 11:03 AM

Harvin should have success against the suspect Ravens’ CBs, although the slants will be a bit tougher with Ed Reed and Ray Lewis waiting in the middle of the field.
We should all take it easy on the cheeser posters. Since winning the pre-season super bowl, the Pack is back to its average play with all that good young talent that TT is stockpiling, and now they simply have no articles on their team to read. Give them a break and let them get their jollies (without codine) by commenting on Vike articles.
