Numbers don't bear out Housh's complaints

On Friday, Mr. Florio shared some comments that Seahawks wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh made to the Associated Press about wanting to see more of the ball.

Greg Johns of SeattlePI.com was also there when Houshmandzadeh was speaking to the media, and has a little more color to add to the receiver's comments. Housh has been running extra routes with the scout team during practice, a move he says is designed to get the coaching staff to call more plays for him.

"I've just got to get these coaches to realize, like, throw me the ball," Houshmandzadeh said. "That's why I'm out here practicing the way I'm practicing. Because maybe I've said it too much. I'm just going to show 'em now. And if that doesn't work, I don't think nothing will."

Problem is, the Seahawks coaches seem to already realize the need to throw the ball Housh's way. Through the first five weeks, Houshmandzadeh has been targeted 45 times by Seahawks quarterbacks. According to Mike Sando of ESPN.com, that's good for seventh-best in the league and just seven behind league-leader Andre Johnson.

Even without the injury to Matt Hasselbeck this season, it's hard to see how much more activity Houshmandzadeh could realistically expect to see thus far. And when you take into account the fact that Housh is making these pleas days after he caught two touchdowns in last week's 41-0 victory, it's hard not to agree with Mr. Florio's take on Houshmandzadeh's chatter from Friday.

Shut up and do your job.

clearly houshmadinijad is suffering the same problem as the titans franchise...post towel-stomping ennui. it took the bengals not resigning housh to get back to temporary respectability, the titans haven't won a game since they stomped the towel, housh hasn't been near as good

don't mess with the terrible towel.

So you want him to ask for the ball less?

Wanting the ball is part of his job....

Do we now get to hear more about the storied history of the greatest franchise in professional sports history? Well I'm talking about the Seattle Seahawks of course. Who else could I be talking about? Certainly not the Minnesota Vikings. They're a joke. I mean, any team can just win all their games if they want to. The Seahawks just prefer to let the tension build until they are 4-8 and need to win out and have the rest of their division fall apart so they can try to sneak into the playoffs. Houshmandzadeh sure dodged a bullet last off-season. If he had gone to Minnesota he wouldn't even get to play in the 4th quarter because the games are already decided by then. How are you supposed to pad your stats if you aren't even on the field. See, with the Seahawks not only will he get to play til the end but he will also be behind so he should have a couple more passes thrown his way. TJ Houshmandzadeh just thinks on a completely different level than the rest of us. Except for Dave the Dude of course. I guess should be expected for them to share the same thought process after their bodies have joined so harmoniously to form one.

Reminds me of TO, getting all the attention in Dallas on the field and still demanding more like he wasn't a huge part of that offense. Its a receiver thing. Wish more were like Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson. Hell, even the new Randy Moss never says anything anymore. Quit and good, never pulling this me me me crap.

He's just like T.O and Ochocinco now, except he has zero entertainment value. This is what you get for ditching a competant QB Housh. Can't wait for the end of the season so we can see how badly he failed in those guarantees he made.

"Shut up and do your job."

Best said comment of the week on any of these headlines. This should be put outside the door of every team in the NFL in bold print.

According to Mike Sando of ESPN.com, that's good for seventh-best in the league and just seven behind league-leader Andre Johnson.

... and just four behind his team mate Burleson, who is second-best in the league.

In other news, Houshmandzadeh has been named the new spokes-model for Pamprin.

T.J.: "Pamper Yourself With Pamprin." . . . Seriously - take a fist full now!

Rather than listening to Florio, who has some deep hatred for Housh, why doesn't everybody go and read the link to the Seattle PI blog? Maybe get a context on the story. Housh made the comments about feeling better in regards to his route running. He said he wasn't running routes like he knew he could and that is why cornerbacks could cover him. He wasn't claiming an injury, but Florio can't be bothered to read AN ENTIRE quote. He would rather just fit it to what he wants.
I am not saying that Housh is justified in asking for the ball more, but Florio needs to get off the guy. If not, then give him his dues when he has a good game. It is a two way street there.
Have I missed why Florio has such a deep hatred for Housh, did he ever explain that?

No. 2 wide receivers are like little children, they should be seen and not heard. This applies even when a team foolishly overpays a No. 2 receiver and gives him No. 1 receiver money.

Also, stop talking. Oregon State grads everywhere cringe everytime you try to put a sentence together. I'm pretty sure OSU professors never uttered the phrase "They ain't even holler at me".

Nice to have confirmation that Houshmandzadeh is the piece of sh** I figured he was. A good fit for the Seahawks, however, one of the worst NFL franchises, nestled squarely in the middle of the worst "major" sports town in America. Whiners should always be paired with excuse-makers, and as anyone who follows the NFL should know. the Seahawks are the ultimate excuse-makers. After all, their own coach blamed the officials for the Super Bowl loss a few years ago---when in actuality, it was his terrible time management and his team's lack of ability to make a play --or stop a play-- that sealed their fate.
