Which way will it go for Galloway?

For two weeks running, Patriots wide receiver Joey Galloway's suffered the indignity of being a healthy scratch. Furthering the humiliation, the 37-year-old's been pushed into disuse by rookie seventh-rounder Julian Edelman, a converted quarterback from Kent State.

Signed to a one-year, $1.75 million deal in March, it can't be going as Galloway envisioned it. In three games, Galloway's caught seven passes for 67 yards and he's been a missing man during locker room access periods at Foxboro. His agent, Shawn Trell, declined comment on Galloway's situation this week, offering only a "He's happy to be in New England."

If time off is Galloway's main interest, no wonder he's happy. It will be interesting to see what role the Patriots have for Galloway on Sunday, if any. New England is up against the horrendous pass defense of the Tennessee Titans and an all-hands-on-deck approach at the wide receiver position could be in the offing.

If Galloway's hands are idle, it will be more proof that the Patriots missed badly on Galloway and that he is likely near the end of the line.

    Have you watched any games?

He has hands of stone and I don't think belicheat likes it very much.

"He's happy to be in New England."

Only because no other team wants him. He's 37 and is washed up. I still don't know what the Pats were thinking when they picked him up.

    Trade him to the Packers.

New England agreed. They are happy for him to be in New England.

Especially when they are playing on the road.

The White Tiger is missing again. Galloway's persona is writing checks his body can't cover. Stick a fork in Joey, he's done. He just collected nearly 2 million for contributing nothing to another team. Maybe he can spread the wealth around in New England.

Actually his hands aren't the problem. His hands are fine. He just can't run routes.
We'll see if the experiment continues.

I thought Greg Lewis would have been a keeper, and then a steal for Minny. He got the win but has otherwise been invisible. Eight years younger. He must really suck.

Man - a whole $1.75 million down the tubes?

    How embarrassing for the Patriots.

That type of salary cap hit could CRIPPLE a team.

It's all production in New England. He needs to catch passes and gain yards. He has not. He'll be given more opportunities.....but the clock is ticking. If he doesn't produce he'll be a "healthy scratch" in future games as well. It's very simple. In New England it's all about merit....as it should be.

Galloway had been playing with a broken hand so it's pretty unfair for him to be criticized and have this undisclosed.

Broken hand? Are you more connected then every other person in the world, cause this is the first anyone has eluded to that.

They don't call it a "healthy scratch" for nothing, simpleton.

It should have been a red flag when the Pats signed him in the first place. Nobody ever questions the Patriots moves, they always assume every move like signing old men galloway and seau are brilliant moves.

When is the media going to call out the Pats for the TERRIBLE Richard Seymour trade. Everyone lined up to say how the Pats ripped off the Raiders. Yes, it made sense on paper, but on the field the pats defense is ineffective ith zero pass rush.

Yeah, the pats got a pick for a guy they probably weren't going to re-sign. But is anybody factoring in the fact that trading away seymour may have killed the pats Super Bowl chances for this season?

That's a hefty price to pay for a draft pick that may never pan out. Especially since the Pats recent draft history has not been so great. Jerod Mayo is the only impact player they drafted in the previous 3 seasons.

Dont Taze Me Bro, you're a douche.

    2 reasons:
    Seymour trade terrible?
Yeah, because Seymour's been superb in Oakland..... First round pick = result
Especially since the defense has been pretty good without the pass rush and the secondary have been very good this year.

    ----------------
2007 - Meriweather starter, excellent season so far. And since picks were traded for Moss and Welker, it's hard to have a good draft with few high picks.

2008 - Mayo. Future All-pro. 4th round pick Wilhite is starting at Corner.

2009 - Darius Butler has been a great Nickel/Dime player this year. 7th round QB Edelman is now 3rd receiver. And Myron Pryor from the 6th round is now in the DE rotation.

Add to that that 9 of 12 draft picks made the team, 1 more on IR, 1 on PUP/NFI and the other made the Practice Squad.

    Yep, awful drafting.

Is Seymour the reason Brady's timing is off?

Cause I've been watching the games and I saw the D hold NYJ to 16 points and the Broncos to 20 points and those are the two games they lost.

It isn't Seymour that is costing the Patriots games - the D has played really well actually.

When you can't score a TD during a game (ie NYJ) I don't know how you can blame the trade of Seymour (unless you hoped he would be taking snaps under center too).

  15. lowleadman says: October 18, 2009 7:56 AM

Too early to call Richard Seymour a terrible trade. That won't be known for 3-4 years, and depends on what we do with that 2011 pick and how that pick or pick transforms to production on the field. The fact that the Pats got something for a guy they weren't going to resign is a good move in itself.

The Junior signing was great, because of all of the veteran leadership the Pats lost (Bruschi, Harrison, Vrabel, Seymour, a veteran presence was required and Junior is it!!!

  16. Dont Taze Me Bro says: October 18, 2009 10:47 AM

    pats apologists

I said Mayof was the only IMPACT player and that's true. Merriweather has been OK but not special. Butler looks decent too so far.

That's 3 payers in 3 years. That is not great drafting. Take an honest look at the Pats drafts in the last few years and you will see most of them are complete zeroes.

What are the odds that the player they get will be half as good as Seymour?

The patriots rolled the dice that they could play without Seymour and add a first rounder for him. The defense is significantly weaker without him. When you guys are thumping your chests over whoever is ultimately selected with the seymour pick, remember that part of the price you paid was flushing a season down the toilet.

Was that Kyle Orton lighting up the Pats through the air? He had all day to throw. The pats haven't even faced a really good passing team yet. Look for the pats to give up tons of passing yards as teams realize they have no pass rush.
