Danny Woodhead is back on the Jets’ active roster.
And this time, he should get to play in a game.
A preseason favorite in New York, Woodhead initially made New York’s 53-man roster out of training camp as a fourth running back. The victory was short-lived, as Woodhead was cut a day later during some roster trimming, before landing on the team’s practice squad.
Woodhead should help on special teams, but he’s got a new position on offense. With Brad Smith doubtful to play and Jerricho Cotchery almost certainly out, Woodhead could take snaps as the team’s slot receiver.
The Jets released defensive tackle Howard Green to make room.
