All Raiders are available, except for Asomugha

Last Sunday, FOX's Jay Glazer reported that a fire sale could be coming in Oakland, with the Raiders willing to move any player except the young, talented ones.

So are there any?

The talk in league circles is that the only sacred cow is cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who is incredibly talented but at 28 is hardly young by NFL standards.

The rest of them are fair game -- presumably even defensive end Richard Seymour, who arrived earlier this year for a 2011 first-round pick.

The vision of drive by shootings comes up everytime I hear the name Oakland Raiders. The only time the streets are quiet is on Sunday when the raiders are playing at home.

Can we get a 7th round pick for Al ??????

  3. wkedklwnz says: October 18, 2009 10:48 AM

I'll give half of a Sub Way Steak and Cheese and bag of Cheetos for the whole lot.

Chaz Shiliens was a guy I wanted my own team to look at late in last season's draft. The guy put up Calvin Johnson-type workout numbers at his pro day despite a so-so college career.

Tom, why would the streets be safe when the Raiders are playing at home? I would think that would be the time for crime... because nobody is watching the games... hell, I would think that would be the best time to break into somebody's house and steal their TV... while they are watching the Raiders... a guy breaks in... the owner pissed off from watching the Raiders, helps the thief load the TV into the car so he won't have to watch any more.

That Jamarcus Russell is the real deal. Have you seen that guy play? Instant winner. No doubt.

And that McFadden fella. Also fantastic.

How the organization would want to get rid of *anybody* is beyond me. STICK WITH WHAT WORKS, AL!

I wish Asomugha was able to show how good he is by playing for a contender. This guy has/had the potential to be the greatest CB in the history of the game. Too bad he's been stuck with the Raiders his entire career. If anyone deserved to be traded, it would be Asomugha.

  7. darrius_heyward-bey-butterfingers says: October 18, 2009 10:54 AM

I wonder what it would take to get Jamarcus? A 5th round pick seems a little high. Maybe a 6th & some cash.

  8. JSpicoli says: October 18, 2009 10:56 AM

So, Al Davis dropped this info to Glazer? Because as you profess 24/7, AD is in charge and handles everything, riiiight?

    Bullshit.

  9. JoeSixPack says: October 18, 2009 10:57 AM

I can see it coming... Richard Seymour to the Patriots for a Third Round pick.

  10. swervinmervin says: October 18, 2009 11:15 AM

This is BS. There are a handfull of players that are not up for the firesale along with Aso.

    the list includes -

    Seymour
    McFadden
    Bush
    Mario Henderson
    Tyvon Branch
    Mike Mitchell
    Thomas Howard
    Zach Miller
    DHB
    Chazz Schillins
    Louis Mourphy
    Robert Gallery
    Trevor Scott

And that's about it. The rest of the team's 41 players are available. The players listed above are either elite (Aso, Seymour) or young with lots of upside.

The rest of the roster is garbage, and that includes Russell. There are maybe a couple of players that other teams could use however -

Any team looking for a 3-4 end should look at Tommy Kelly. Any team wanting to take a chance on Javon Walker could take a roll of the dice. Any team wanting to add a decent LB should look at Kirk Morrison. An above average passrusher in Greg Ellis. A decent punt returner in Higgins.

That's about it, folks. And even that is stretching it.

  11. BAM says: October 18, 2009 11:16 AM

    Florio,
WTF has happened to Javon Walker? I mean not that "Off Da Marcus" Russell could get him the ball but that's what has befuddled me. Trade Russell, Fargas, Seymour, Javon Walker (if he's just going to take up that beautiful Oakland air anyways). Fire Sale? Could we just burn Al Davis?

If I'm an insider with the Packers organization I'd be on the phone with the "old man" right about now.

After all, not all Raiders players are a complete waste.

For proof of that the Packers don't need to look any farther than their own roster with Charles Woodson being a perennial all-pro.

Maybe they can pick up a decent o-lineman or a r.b. who can actually break an arm tackle.

  16. jorge says: October 18, 2009 11:30 AM

Maybe the Pack make a trade for Shane Lecher???

  20. raidermot says: October 18, 2009 11:59 AM

1- Al thinks this is a talented team
2- Al way over evaluates a Raider player's ablity and value
3- Example: He though Heyward-Bay was worth the #7 overall pick
4- Heyward-Bay has as many receptions as names on his jersey: 2. Heyward-Bay has about as many drops as letters in his name
5- These are Raider players, they come with Raider baggage, nobody wants them at Al's inflated asking price
6- Yes, I am going to the game today. I predict a 47-10 shellacking. Over before half time.

"Charles Woodson being a perennial all-pro"

Please to look up the word "perennial". He was all-pro last year. Last time before that was almost a decade ago.

This is not more of your scoops like Soros is part of the Rams group, or Cable is a Felon and on and on we go.

Let me clue you in on something Florio, people in the Raider building do not know what is going on with the Raiders.

Hey did you read that Gruden would be open to returning to the Raiders. Dig some shit like that up for us to read, not this bull your media clown pals make up.

  25. VoxVagina says: October 18, 2009 12:30 PM

I am a huge fan of Nnamdi, but it's his own fault that he's stuck on the Raiders. He signed a new deal this offseason. He's a great player but he's just trying to pick up a check. Why he would re-sign with the most disfunctional oorganization in the NFL isa mystery to me. He needs some national recognition and deserves to be known as a premiere corner. But he'll never get that as long as he's in Oakland.

  26. RaiderChile says: October 18, 2009 1:52 PM

For the 3 years I had tix for Raider games, I noticed that Nnamdi couldn't tackle a runner. I think guy is over rated. He is a good CB but the greatest ever? What a joke. The Raiders have one of the greatest as a coach.

  27. Quagmire says: October 18, 2009 2:11 PM

The problem with trading players is that crazy Al is the guy that picks the players, or draft picks to replace them.

Not really a good talent evaluator anymore.

How did your prediction go, buddy?

  31. murfdeezy says: October 18, 2009 10:38 PM

The problem is only that Al makes the decisions. He is a fool. Only a fool continually overlooks real football ability for morons with no game and crazy 40 times. I am tired of knowing every draft we are going to draft the guys with the best times, even if they cant play football. It's not a coincedence that we cant rebuild. We do have some talent on this team, so all you haters can shut the hell up. I saw it in week one against San Diego more than I saw it today, but there is talent. Unfortunately for us, most of it is on the defensive side of the ball. If the Raiders had a GM and the same coaching staff, I would predict a drastic turn around in less than 3 years. We need continuity, and professionals in charge of their area of expertise....I wish I could "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain", except he ruins every freakin draft, and every freakin football season for me. I want a real front office damn it! Fire sale my ass. I tell ya what. I will give away our top 3 players free of charge, provided that you take Al Davis with them. That would be the smartest deal the Raiders have made in 5 years. Keep hope alive boys. There is talent in Oakland, leadership is what we are trying to find.
