St. Louis completes the "Ram Slam"

The St. Louis Rams have lost their 16th straight game — a full season’s worth of losses spread over two years.

The slide started last season after stunning back-to-back victories over the Redskins and Cowboys marked the launch of interim coach Jim Haslett’s tenure.  But then the Rams lost 10 straight to end the year, and six straight to launch 2009.

If they lose the final 10 games of the current season, the Rams will match the all-time record for consecutive losses set by the 1976-77 Buccaneers.

The 16th loss came in overtime at Jacksonville, after the Rams drove within the Jaguars’ 10 before settling for a game-tying field goal with four seconds to play.

The Jags won the game with a 36-yard field goal to cap the first drive of overtime, a 13-play effort.

That would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, not the Rams.

The 1976 Rams went 10-3-1 and won the NFC West. You are thinking of the Buccaneers.
